A sorbent article is described including a plurality of sorbent elements structured to adsorb and desorb CO.sub.2 and a plurality of hydrophobic elements mixed with the plurality of sorbent elements and structured to exert hydrophobic force to expel liquid water from the sorbent article. Also described herein are methods of forming such sorbent articles for the purpose of swing adsorption, including for direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide.

Provided is a method of preparing a superabsorbent polymer. COMPOSITIONS, METHODS, AND SYSTEMS FOR CAPTURING CARBON DIOXIDE FROM A GAS STREAM
The present disclosure relates to a solid adsorbent for capturing carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) from a gas stream comprising CO.sub.2, the solid adsorbent comprising an amine covalently bonded to a polymer resin (e.g., a polystyrene resin), wherein the solid adsorbent has a CO.sub.2 uptake capacity of greater than about 7 wt. % at a temperature of about 40° C., and wherein the solid adsorbent has a CO.sub.2 uptake capacity of less than about 1.5 wt. % at a temperature of about 100° C., as measured when the gas stream further comprises a concentration of the CO.sub.2 of about 4 vol. %, by volume of the gas stream.
SUPERABSORBENT POLYMER FOR CLASSIFICATION OF PARTICLES AND CLASSIFICATION METHOD USING THE SAME
Provided is a method for simply obtaining a desired size fraction from an aqueous sample containing particles. The method includes the following steps: (1) bringing the aqueous sample containing particles into contact with a superabsorbent polymer to obtain a superabsorbent polymer gel containing a portion of the particles, and (2) mixing the superabsorbent polymer gel with a salt to recover a portion of the particles.
APPARATUS FOR REMOVING CHEMOTHERAPY COMPOUNDS FROM BLOOD
A filter apparatus for removing small molecule chemotherapy agents from blood is provided. The filter apparatus comprises a housing with an extraction media comprised of polymer coated carbon cores. Also provided are methods of treating a subject with cancer of an organ or region comprising administering a chemotherapeutic agent to the organ or region, collecting blood laded with chemotherapeutic agent from the isolated organ, filtering the blood laden with chemotherapeutic agent to reduce the chemotherapeutic agent in the blood and returning the blood to the subject.
ZEOLITES WITH IMPROVED COMPATIBILITY
The invention relates to modified zeolite crystals comprising zeolite crystals and from 0.5% to 20%, by weight, endpoints included, relative to the total weight of modified zeolite crystals, of at least one polymeric compatibilizer, more particularly a functional polyolefin.
The invention also relates to the use of the modified zeolite crystals according to the invention as a filler in a polymer matrix, for example for the preparation of composite materials.
Pelletized Compositions for Liquid Solidification and Moisture Retention and Methods of Making and Using the Same
A method of using a pelletized composition for liquid solidification and moisture retention includes the steps of: Providing a pelletized absorption material having i) at least 60% by weight agricultural fibers; and ii) 0.1-20% by weight superabsorbent polymer, wherein the pellets are substantially uniform and have a density of less than 40 LBS/Cubic Foot; and Blending the pelletized absorption material with one of i) Sludge, ii) Landfill leachate; iii) material used in hydroseeding; iv) grass seeds, fertilizer, and/or mulch to form a soil amendment; v) settling pond; and vi) wastewater streams.
Sorbent Materials and Water Harvesting Devices Including the Same
Sorbent materials comprising a nanofiber composite including a polymeric material defining a continuous phase and at least one metal organic framework (MOF) material defining a discontinuous phase are provided. The at least one MOF material is dispersed throughout the continuous phase of the polymeric material. Fibrous mats comprising the sorbent materials are also provided. Water harvesting devices utilizing the sorbent materials are also provided.
Packaging materials
The use of a palladium-doped zeolite for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds is described wherein the zeolite has a CHA framework type and is polymer-bound. Such zeolites have been found to have particular utility as packaging materials for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds, such as those originating from organic matter.
