ADSORBENT, HEAVY METAL REMOVING AGENT, MOLDED BODY USING SAME, AND WATER PURIFIER

An embodiment of the present invention relates to an adsorbent which contains a fine particle compound containing an aluminosilicate compound and activated carbon particles, wherein the fine particle compound containing an aluminosilicate compound has a specific surface area of 300 m.sup.2/g or more and an average particle size of 10 to 200 μm and includes particles having a particle size of 10 μm or less in volume particle size distribution at 10 volume % or less, and the activated carbon particles have a mode diameter of 0.06 to 0.6 mm.

Boron nitride polymer composite foam derived from emulsions stabilized by boron nitride kinetic trapping

The present disclosure provides advantageous graphene/graphite stabilized composites (e.g., graphene/graphite stabilized emulsion-templated foam composites), and improved methods for fabricating such graphene/graphite stabilized composites. More particularly, the present disclosure provides improved methods for fabricating pristine, graphene/graphite/polymer composite foams derived from emulsions stabilized by graphene/graphite kinetic trapping. In exemplary embodiments, the present disclosure provides that, instead of viewing the insolubility of pristine graphene/graphite as an obstacle to be overcome, it is utilized as a means to create or fabricate water/oil emulsions, with graphene/graphite stabilizing the spheres formed. These emulsions are then the frameworks used to make foam composites that have shown bulk conductivities up to about 2 S/m, as well as compressive moduli up to about 100 MPa and breaking strengths of over 1200 psi, with densities as low as about 0.25 g/cm.sup.3.

Cesium adsorbent and method of preparing the same

Provided herein is a cesium adsorbent including: a support modified to have a carboxyl group on a surface thereof; and Prussian blue synthesized on the surface of the modified support, wherein the Prussian blue is at least partially chemically bound with the surface of the support. The cesium adsorbent may effectively adsorb cesium, which is a radioactive element released into the water and may be easily prepared using a simple solution process.

Method for improving water retention in a soil

A method is described for improving water retention in soil, which involves mixing a super absorbing resin (SAR) composite with the soil. The SAR composite comprises a natural pozzolan and at least one polymer or copolymer. The SAR composite may be in the form of granules having an average longest dimension of 0.2-10 mm, though the SAR composite may be pelletized or formed in other sizes. The SAR composite may release water at a faster rate in a soil when exposed to drought conditions.

POLYMER COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING ZEOLITE FOR ENHANCED WATER ADSORPTION

This invention relates generally to zeolites and polymer compositions with zeolites having enhanced adsorption capacity for adsorption of water, ammonia and other similar compounds. The invention is directed particularly to aluminosilicate zeolites, and methods for preparing zeolite entrained polymer compositions having enhanced water adsorption properties. This invention relates also to improved packaging materials with enhanced water adsorption properties incorporating the polymer compositions containing zeolites.

BLOOD PURIFIER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME

Provided is a blood purifier which has a porous molded body with good phosphorus adsorption, which has good cytokine adsorption performance, no hemolysis, and can be used safely. The blood purifier has a porous molded body having a low-melting-point moisture content per gram of dry weight of 0.12 g or more and 1.35 g or less. After three and six months from sealing of a saline solution for injection into the blood purifier, the number of microparticles greater than or equal to 10 μm is 25 or less and the number of microparticles greater than or equal to 25 μm is three or less in 1 mL of the saline solution for injection.

FORMULATION AND METHOD FOR PREPARING FIBROUS MATERIAL COMPRISING NANOFIBERS, AND FILTER COMPRISING THE FIBROUS MATERIAL

The present invention provides a formulation and method for preparing a fibrous material comprising nanofibers. The formulation comprises (a) at least one polymer, (b) at least one solvent in which the at least one polymer is dissolved to provide a polymer solution, and (c) at least one functional additive that imparts functionality to the fibrous material. The at least one functional additive is dissolvable or suspensible in the polymer solution. The formulation is able to remove or reduce the concentration of bacteria, viruses and heavy metals while maintaining high filtration efficiency. The invention also relates to a fibrous material prepared by the formulation and applications of the fibrous material.
