POLYMERS, FLUORINATED IONIC POLYMER NETWORKS, AND METHODS RELATED THERETO
Disclosed herein are materials and methods related to the removal of a polyfluorinated alkyl compound from water. The materials contain both fluorine and an ion, which materials can be used as a network to remove the polyfluorinated alkyl compound from water.
Filter Medium for Separating Nitrogen Oxides
A filter medium is provided with a layer (A) provided with non-impregnated active carbon, a layer (B) with a solid carrier material that is impregnated with a permanganate salt, and a layer (C) with alkaline impregnated active carbon. The layer (B) and the layer (C) are arranged such that a gas flowing through the filter medium flows through the layer (B) before flowing through the layer (C). The layer (A) is arranged such that the gas flowing through the filter medium flows through the layer (A) before flowing through the layer (B) or the gas flowing through the filter medium flows through the layer (A) after flowing through the layer (C).
Apparatus having polymer surfaces having a siloxane functional group
An apparatus for collecting mineral particles in a slurry or the tailings is disclosed, including a collection area or tank having one or more collection surfaces configured to contact with a mixture having water and valuable material, the valuable material having a plurality of mineral particles of interest; and a synthetic material provided at least on the one or more collection surfaces, the synthetic material having plurality of molecules with a siloxane functional group configured to attract the mineral particles of interest to the collection surfaces. The one or more collection surfaces includes a conveyor belt that is driven through the collection area or tank, through a release area or tank, back through the collection area or tank. The mixture includes a pulp slurry having ground ore with mineral particles of interest forming part thereof, including mineral particles of interest of about 500 microns or larger.
FULLY MOISTURE-TIGHT MULTILAYER MATERIAL, CAPABLE OF ABSORBING, RETAINING AND NOT RELEASING ABSORBED FREE WATER, FOR PACKAGING FOOD, DIETARY AND COSMETIC PRODUCTS, MEDICAL DEVICES AND MEDICINAL PRODUCTS
The present invention relates to a fully moisture-tight multilayer material, which is also able to absorb, retain and not release the absorbed moisture or free water into the formulations containing pharmacological active substances and/or instable components with biological activity and/or effervescent and/or easily perishable formulations; said material being useful for preparing bags, envelopes and sachets for packaging food, dietary and cosmetic products, medical devices and medicinal products. The multilayer material of the present invention is a multilayer material that is useful for preparing containers in the form of bags, envelopes, sachets and sticks coming into direct contact with the formulations of the food, dietary and cosmetic products as well as of the medical devices and medicinal products in the form of e.g. lactic bacteria and/or bifidobacteria in powders or granules, either dried or freeze-dried.
REUSABLE POLYMERIC MATERIAL FOR REMOVING SILOXANE COMPOUNDS IN BIOGAS, METHOD THEREBY AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Provided are a reusable polymeric material for removing siloxane compounds in biogas, a method for removing siloxane using the same, and an apparatus therefor, and more particularly, a polyacrylate-based polymer absorbent for removing siloxane compounds in biogas and a method for removing siloxane compounds in biogas. The method for removing siloxane compounds in biogas includes (a) providing the biogas, and b) absorbing the siloxane compounds in a polymer absorbent by passing the biogas through the polymer absorbent according to any one of claims 1 to 5.
MEDIA FOR SEPARATING SMALL MOLECULES FROM BIOMACROMOLECULES IN AQUEOUS MIXTURES
A separation medium for removing small molecules from biomacromolecule in aqueous mixtures comprises gel filtration chromatography beads having a nominal protein fractional range of about 1000 Da to about 5000 Da and having an internal adsorbent matrix derived from a hydrophobicized scaffold. The gel filtration chromatography beads remove small molecules that are less than 1500 Da and have log Pow values greater than about −0.5 from biomacromolecules in aqueous mixtures. Devices containing the separation medium are also provided.
Modified hydrophobic sponges
Articles are provided for absorbing fluids. In embodiments, the articles of the present disclosure are modified to make them hydrophobic, thereby decreasing their affinity for water and similar liquids, while increasing their affinity for other hydrophobic materials, including oil. After use, the articles, in embodiments sponges, may have their absorbed materials removed therefrom, and the articles may then be re-used to absorb additional materials.
REINFORCED LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATES
An aggregate includes a polymeric foam present in a range of about 80 vol % to about 85 vol % of the aggregate. A cementitious matrix is present in a range of about 10 vol % to about 13 vol % of the aggregate. One or more resins are present in an amount of less than about 2 vol % of the aggregate, and one or more reinforcing fibers are present in an amount of less than about 1 vol % of the aggregate.
Mercury removal from liquid hydrocarbons by 1,4-benzenediamine alkyldiamine cross-linked polymersmercury removal from liquid hydrocarbons by 1,4-benzenediamine alkyldiamine cross-linked polymers
The invention is directed to utilization of a series of cross-linked 1,4-benzenediamine-co-alkyldiamine polymers and the use of the polymers to remove mercury from a hydrocarbon in fluid form.
CARBONIC ACID GAS ABSORBING MATERIAL, CARBONIC ACID GAS RECOVERY SYSTEM, AND CARBONIC ACID GAS RECOVERY METHOD
A carbonic acid gas absorbing material on an embodiment includes a liquid carbonic acid gas absorbent and a solid carbonic acid gas absorbent. The liquid carbonic acid gas absorbent is a solution containing a first amine and a solvent. The solid carbonic acid gas absorbent is a second amine of any one among a polyamine, a base material and an amine fixed to the base material, or a polyamine, a base material, and an amine fixed to the base material.
