Metal-organic framework/polymer foam composite materials and their uses in decontamination and/or ballistic protection
A composite material is provided comprising a porous polymeric matrix having metal-organic framework (MOF) domains dispersed within the porous polymeric matrix, each of said MOF domains in fluid communication with the external environment through the pores in the porous polymeric matrix. A process of using the composite material to chemically modify or detoxify a chemical warfare agent or a toxic industrial chemical is also provided. The chemical warfare agent or the toxic industrial chemical is brought into contact with a MOF domain within the porous polymeric matrix so that the MOFs adsorb and chemically modify the chemical warfare agent or the toxic industrial chemical. A process for producing such a composite material is also disclosed.
FILTER, METAL ION REMOVAL METHOD , AND METAL ION REMOVAL DEVICE
A filter includes a porous molded article, which is a sintered material of mixed powder containing activated carbon powder and thermoplastic resin powder. When water having a specific electrical resistance value of 18 MΩ.Math.cm or greater is caused to pass through the filter at a space velocity of 1200 hr.sup.−1, a specific electrical resistance value of the water after being caused to pass through the filter is 13 MΩ.Math.cm or greater. To provide a filter capable of efficiently removing metal ions in a treatment liquid and capable of easily obtaining a solution having an extremely low metal ion content.
CATALYST MEDIUM COMPRISING HOLLOW MICROSPHERES
The present invention relates to a calcined medium, in particular a catalyst or a catalyst medium or an adsorbent/absorbent mass, in particular in the form of extrudates, pellets, granules or beads, the medium comprising a porous matrix comprising carbonates, clays, zeolites, oxides, or metal and/or silicon hydroxides, and the matrix incorporating hollow mineral microspheres having a different composition in a content of between 0.3 and 50% by weight, in particular between 0.5 and 15% by weight, of the matrix.
Air-permeable sheet filter material, methods for the production and use thereof
The present invention relates to a sheet filter material, in particular having an aerosol filter function and/or a particle filter function, preferably having a protective function against chemical, biological and/or chemical harmful and toxic substances, and to a method for the production thereof. The sheet filter material is particularly suitable for producing protective equipment, protective objects, sports and leisure clothing and filters and filter materials of all types.
Evaporative emission control articles including activated carbon
A coated substrate (2a, 2b) adapted for hydrocarbon adsorption having at least one surface, and a coating on the at least one surface, the coating comprising particulate carbon and a binder, wherein the particulate carbon has a BET surface area of at least about 1300 m.sup.2/g; and at least one of: (i) a butane affinity of greater than 60% at 5% butane; (ii) a butane affinity of greater than 35% at 0.5% butane; (iii) a micropore volume greater than about 0.2 ml/g and a mesopore volume greater than about 0.5 ml/g. A bleed emission scrubber (1) and an evaporative emission control canister system (30) comprising the coated substrate (2a, 2b) are provided. They can control evaporative hydrocarbon emissions and may provide low diurnal breathing loss (DBL) emissions even under a low purge condition.
Superabsorbent polymer composition and method for preparing the same
The present invention relates to superabsorbent polymer and a method for preparing the same. The present invention can provide a superabsorbent polymer in which a hydrophobic material having an HLB of 0-6 and a surface cross-linking agent are mixed into a base resin prepared in the presence of water dispersible silica, thereby having improved rewetting characteristics and permeability through surface-modification of the base resin.
CATION EXCHANGE CHROMATOGRAPHY WASH BUFFER
A wash buffer comprising a surfactant for use in affinity and cation exchange chromatography to purify proteins of interest from protein aggregates and to remove and/or inactivate viruses. When used during affinity or cation exchange chromatography for the purification of a protein of interest, such as an antibody, the wash buffer significantly improves viral clearance from the preparation, while also reducing the levels of host cell proteins and protein aggregates. Following affinity or cation exchange chromatography with the wash buffer, the protein of interest may be further purified using other chromatography and filtration operations.
SINTERED POROUS ELASTOMERIC MATERIAL AND APPLICATION OF THE SAME
A sintered elastomeric material combined with at least one absorbent material and formed into a thin compressible sheet. The material finds particular use in venting or filtering gasses. In specific examples, the elastomeric material may be a thermoplastic elastomer and the absorbent material may be carbon. When an amount of carbon (or any other type of conductive material) included with the elastomeric material is high enough, the material may also find use as a conductive material.
Organic Soil Amendments with Ions Bound Thereto for Removing Contaminants from Aqueous Streams
A composition for treating water including an organic soil amendment and having ions bound thereto is beneficial to aid in the removal of aqueous contaminants, such as phosphate, other phosphorus containing compounds, arsenic, arsenic containing compounds, fluorides, and PFAS from water. In these compositions the ions include rare earth cations, iron cations, and mixtures thereof. There are also methods for making these soil amendment compositions, as well as methods for using these compositions to effectively remove contaminants from water.
POLYMER MATRIX BASED SUPERABSORBENT MATERIAL
A polymer matrix based superabsorbent material is provided, which is made of a polymer including nanoparticles with a particle size in the range of 0.1-500 nanometers, one or more water-soluble monomers suitable for radical polymerization, and at least one vinyl alkoxysilane derivative agent as a crosslinker. A method of producing the polymer matrix based superabsorbent material is also provided, which includes steps of: obtaining a solution by adding a solvent to the one or more water-soluble monomers suitable for the radical polymerization, obtaining a reaction mixture by adding the at least one vinyl alkoxysilane derivative agent as the crosslinker to the solution, adding the nanoparticles with the particle size in the range of 0.1-500 nanometers to the reaction mixture, and obtaining the polymer by a polymerization process.
