Composite material, its manufacture and use in gas purification
The invention provides a composite material formed from an inorganic mesoporous, or mesoporous-like, material that is dispersed throughout a polymeric matrix formed by a crosslinked polymer that has acidic- or basic-residues and which may also optionally have further acidic- or basic-residues grafted onto the inorganic mesoporous material. The resulting composite material may be used to remove acidic or basic impurities from a gas in need thereof and can be easily regenerated.
High cohesive strength composite materials and, E.G., cigarette filters shaped therefrom
Composite materials having high cohesive strength, formed from at least one polymer and from at least one compound selected from among mineral oxides, aluminosilicates and active carbon, are characterized by a mean particle size of at least 100 mm, a pore volume (Vd1) formed by pores having a diameter ranging from 3.6 to 1,000 nm, equal to at least 0.2 cm.sup.3/g, a cohesive strength such that its content of particles having a size of less than 100 mm, obtained after being subjected to an air pressure of 2 bar, of less than 1.5%, preferably 0.0%, by volume; such composite materials are formed into useful liquid supports, catalyst supports, additives, or liquid or gas filters, in particular into cigarette filters.
Porous activated alumina based sorbent for lithium extraction
This invention relates to a method for preparing a lithium activated alumina intercalate solid by contacting a three-dimensional activated alumina with a lithium salt under conditions sufficient to infuse lithium salts into activated alumina for the selective extraction and recovery of lithium from lithium containing solutions, including brines.
MAGNESIUM-ALUMINUM HYDROTALCITE-LOADED NANO ZERO-VALENT IRON COMPOSITE MATERIAL, METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME AND USE THEREOF
It discloses a method for preparing a magnesium-aluminum hydrotalcite-loaded nano zero-valent iron material for specifically removing perfluorooctanoic acid in a water environment and an optimized process for removing perfluorooctanoic acid thereby, and relates to the technical field of removing persistent organic pollutants in water using adsorption method and oxidation-reduction method and, in particular, to a composite material prepared by loading a nano zero-valent iron on magnesium-aluminum hydrotalcite using liquid phase reduction method.
Compound containing unsaturated double bond, oxygen absorbent using same and resin composition
An unsaturated double bond-containing compound represented by the general formula (I) or the general formula (II), an oxygen absorbent containing the compound, and a resin composition. ##STR00001##
Method of use for a solid form adsorbent
A method including adding to or positioning in a vehicle air conditioning system a solid form adsorbent. The solid form adsorbent includes a plurality of discrete adsorbent particles spatially bound in place by point bonding with a binder. At least about 25% of the external surface area of a majority of the particles is not sealed off by the binder and is available for adsorption.
Removal and detection of algae, their toxins, and excess nutrients
A method of removing from water at least one of algae, bacteria, toxins produced by algae, toxins produced by bacteria, and algae nutrients by placing an open-cell foam material into the water, leaving the material in the water for sufficient time to adsorb/absorb at least one of algae, their toxins, and their nutrients, and then removing the open-cell foam material from the water.
EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL ARTICLES INCLUDING ACTIVATED CARBON
The present disclosure relates to hydrocarbon emission control systems. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to substrates coated with hydrocarbon adsorptive coating compositions and evaporative emission control systems for controlling evaporative emissions of hydrocarbons from motor vehicle engines and fuel systems. The hydrocarbon adsorptive coating compositions include particulate carbon having a BET surface area of at least about 1300 m.sup.2/g, and at least one of (i) a butane affinity of greater than 60% at 5% butane; (ii) a butane affinity of greater than 35% at 0.5% butane; (iii) a micropore volume greater than about 0.2 ml/g and a mesopore volume greater than about 0.5 ml/g.
Modified Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Compositions, Process of Making and Process of Use Thereof
This invention relates to modified MOF materials, methods of preparing them and processes using them. A modified MOF of the invention is modified by impregnating a MOF with an inorganic metal salt. The starting MOF contains at least one linker or ligand which contains an aryl amino group as part of its structure. These modified MOFs are able to adsorb either basic or acidic toxic industrial compounds (TIC). The modified MOFs can be used to remove TICs from various gaseous streams such as air.
Product for oil pollution remediation
The invention is both a product and a method for the safe, harmless and effective remediation of oil spills on water and on land. The oil can then be successfully recovered from the product for use. The invention also allows for the reuse of two waste products—post consumer plastics and coal combustion product—into a material that is used for the clean-up of oil spills and for site remediation. Furthermore, the used product can be reprocessed post use into more usable product.
