Various embodiments disclosed relate to extraction of target materials using a CZTS sorbent. A method of extracting a target material from a medium includes contacting a copper zinc tin sulfur (CZTS) sorbent with the target material in the medium including the target material to form a used CZTS sorbent that includes the target material.

Preservative removal from eye drops

A particulate plug for removing a preservative from a solution, suspension, or emulsion comprising a drug is presented. The plug comprises microparticles of oxidized polyolefin (OxPO). The microparticles are irregular-shaped rigid aggregates and are sized and packed to yield a hydraulic permeability greater than 0.01 Da. The OxPO have absorbed portions of a preservative to be removed and/or a drug for delivery in solution, as can the copolymer.

The present invention provides porous materials for use in solid phase extractions and chromatography. In particular, the materials exhibit superior properties in the SPE analysis of biological materials. In certain aspects, the porous materials comprise a copolymer of a least one hydrophobic monomer and at least one hydrophilic monomer, wherein more than 10% of the BJH surface area of the porous material is contributed by pores that have a diameter greater than or equal to 200 Å, wherein said material has a median pore diameter of about 100 Å to about 1000 Å, or both. In some embodiments, the at least one hydrophilic monomer has a log P value of less than 0.5. In some embodiments, the at least one hydrophilic monomer is selected from 4-acryloymorphine, N-(3-methoxypropyl)acrylamide, N,N′-methylenebis(acrylamide), acrylonitrile, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, methyl acrylate, 4-acetoxystyrene, 4-vinyl pyridine, or a boronic-acid-containing monomer, among others.

Provided is a chromatography stationary phase having an excellent molecule discriminating ability. Specifically, provided is a chromatography stationary phase including a carrier carrying a copolymer that has a pyrrolidone backbone or a piperidone backbone, and an imide backbone in a repeating unit of the main chain.

Iron oxide absorbent compositions

Embodiments provided herein are compositions directed to porous iron oxides, which are suitable for removing hydrogen sulfide and other sulfur-containing organic contaminants from hydrocarbon streams, and in which the iron oxide component of the composition contains both maghemite and hematite phases, with maghemite forming the greater portion of these phases. In some embodiments, magnetite, aluminum oxide, alumina silicate, and a binder comprised of an organic substance are homogenized, followed by calcining which burns away the organic and converts magnetite to a mix of maghemite and hematite.
