COMPOSITIONS AND DEVICES FOR REMOVAL OF ENDOTOXINS AND CYTOKINES FROM FLUIDS
Provided are sorption materials and devices using the sorption materials, and methods of using the sorption materials and devices containing the sorption materials. In various examples, the sorption materials bind to various inflammation stimulating and/or mediating molecules, which are often associated with systemic infections and systemic inflammation associated with conditions such as, for example, sepsis.
USE OF ALKYL-TRICHLOROSILANES AND/OR SILSESQUIOXANES FOR THE REMOVAL OF MICROPLASTIC PARTICLES FROM WATER AND/OR A BODY OF WATER
Use of an alkyltrichlorosilane of the following formula I: RSiCl.sub.3, wherein: R represents an alkyl group, Si represents a silicon atom and Cl represents a chlorine atom, and/or of a silsesquioxane of the following formula II: [RSiO.sub.3/2].sub.n, wherein: R represents an alkyl group, Si represents a silicon atom, O represents an oxygen atom and n represents an integer, for the removal of microplastic particles from water and/or for the treatment of water. Further, a method for the removal of microplastic particles from water and/or for the purification of water is provided, as well as an inclusion and/or intercalation compound, a kit for the removal of microplastic particles from water and/or for the purification of water as well as a water treatment system.
PLANT HEALTH WITH IN SITU FORMED WATER ABSORBING HYDROGELS
Hydrogel-forming components may be applied to soil in dry or wet formulations. After migrating to a targeted area, such as a root zone of a plant, particularly turfgrass, and after a triggering event such as a change in concentration, the hydrogel-forming components form a hydrogel in situ in the targeted area. The compositions and methods of the disclosure advantageously allow for direct application of hydrogel-forming components using existing equipment (such as, for example, sprayers) without tilling or disrupting the plants to which the compositions are applied. Hydrogel-forming components comprise one or more backbones, one or more crosslinkers, and, optionally, one or more adjuvants.
Self-sealing vent assembly
Example embodiments use hydrophilic substances to absorb moisture from the air passing through the vent cover. The vent cover is recommended to be used along with a fan to regulate the air flow through the vent cover. The vent cover has holes, and the holes are filled with the hydrophilic material (i.e., hydrogel or polyacrylamide beads). Once enough moisture from the air passes through the vent cover, the vent cover seals itself and prevents air from flowing. The hydrophilic material allows the water to evaporate over time and thus effectively removes the seal.
Method for detecting a gas sample using a carbon aerogel adsorbent
A method for detecting a gas sample includes the following steps of: providing a carbon aerogel sleeve; introducing a gas sample to the carbon aerogel sleeve, and then sequentially extracting, concentrating, activating, and re-concentrating the gas sample adsorbed by the carbon aerogel and detecting a concentration of the re-concentrated gas sample by a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS); and extracting the carbon aerogel for several hours with reflux in a dichloromethane solvent and a n-hexane solvent several times per hour to remove the residual gas sample, and then drying the extracted carbon aerogel for reuse, wherein the dichloromethane solvent and the n-hexane solvent are at a volume ratio of 0.001-1000.
AMINE GRAFTED SILICA GELS
A method of grafting a silica support includes adding the silica support to a solvent, resulting in a first solution, adding an amount of silane to the first solution, resulting in a second solution, filtering grafted silica support from the second solution, and drying the grafted silica support.
Super absorbent resin
The present invention relates to a super absorbent resin, and the super absorbent resin can exhibit a fast absorption rate and high gel strength even in a partially swollen state through the size optimization of partially swollen gel particles. Therefore, the use of the super absorbent resin can effectively prevent a rewetting phenomenon.
MONOTHIOETHER CROSSLINKERS IN POLYMERS AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
A polypeptide comprises amino acids in an amino acid sequence, wherein a portion of the amino acids are covalently linked via a monothioether bridge. In one embodiment, the portion includes amino acids selected from (I) herein n is 0, 1, or 2 and m is 1 or 2. In another embodiments, a hydrogel can include such an amino acid as a crosslinker.

Surfactant-templated synthesis of nanostructured xerogel adsorbent platforms
A process for separations and recovery from mixtures via specific adsorption using high-surface area, flexible silica-based nanostructured gel adsorbents and articles of manufacture relating to same.
SURFACE FUNCTIONALISED MATERIALS FOR SAMPLING BIOLOGICAL MOLECULES
The invention relates to materials, methods and devices useful for sampling biological molecules, including biomarkers and/or metabolites. In particular, the invention relates to surface functionalised xerogels and surface functionalised poly(dimethyl) siloxane (PDMS), devices comprising those materials, and methods of using the materials and devices for sampling, analysing or detecting biological molecules.
