Metal-organic frameworks

The present invention relates to compounds capable of forming metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), particularly f-block metal MOFs which selectively sorb one component (e.g. para-xylene) from a mixture of components (e.g. m-/p-xylene mixture). The invention also relates to methods of producing and using said compounds.

The present invention relates to a zeolite absorbent comprising at least one FAU zeolite with hierarchical porosity and comprising barium or barium and potassium, and the external surface area of which is greater than 20 m.sup.2.Math.g.sup.−1, and the non-zeolite phase content being between 6% and 12% by weight with respect to the total weight of the absorbent. The present invention also relates to the use of such a zeolite absorbent as an adsorption agent, as well as the method for separation of para-xylene from aromatic isomer fractions with 8 carbon atoms.

Adsorbent particles each containing: a carrier particle containing an organic polymer containing a monomer unit derived from a styrene-based monomer; a hydrophilic organic compound adhered to a surface of the carrier particle; and a diglycolic acid residue bonded to the hydrophilic organic compound. When a BET specific surface of the adsorbent particles as determined by adsorption of nitrogen gas is X.sub.0 and a BET specific surface area of the adsorbent particles as determined by adsorption of water vapor is X.sub.1, X.sub.1/X.sub.0 is 0.10 to 1.0.

Activated carbon having basic functional groups and method for producing same

The present invention provides activated carbon with which hydrophilicity is excellent and the amount of steam adsorbed is increased, and provides a method for producing this activated carbon. This activated carbon is characterized in that the amount of basic functional groups in the activated carbon is 0.470 meq/m.sup.2 or greater. Preferably the amount of basic groups per specific surface area of activated carbon is 0.200 μeq/m.sup.2 or greater and the ratio of the amount of basic functional groups and the amount of acidic functional groups (basic functional groups/acidic functional groups) is 1.00 or greater. This method for producing activated carbon is characterized in comprising a step for imparting basic functional groups by bringing the activated carbon into contact with a basic substance. According to a preferred embodiment, the method comprises a step for heating the resulting activated carbon in an insert atmosphere.

POROUS ORGANIC POLYMERS FOR BINDING HEAVY METALS

Compositions containing a porous organic polymer and a heavy metal chelating moiety are provided for binding heavy metals, for example in remediation and purification. The compositions can be stable and recyclable. The compositions can contain heavy metal chelating moieties such as a thiol, a sulfide, an amine, a pyridine, or a combination thereof. The compositions can bind heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury. The compositions can have a large surface area greater than about 20 m.sup.2/g. The compositions can be used for remediation and purification to remove heavy metals from a solution. The compositions can have a maximum metal uptake capacity of more than 500 mg g.sup.−1 and/or a metal distribution coefficient of at least 1×10.sup.7 mL g.sup.−1 at 1 atm and 296 K. Methods of making the compositions are provided. Methods of binding heavy metals in remediation and purification are also provided.

The present invention provides a column filler for liquid chromatography that has a great adsorption capacity, adjustable adsorption selectivity, and high shape retainability and therefore is usable for measurement of various substances and capable of achieving excellent separation performance and a high filling rate in a column when used as a column filler for liquid chromatography. Provided is a column filler for liquid chromatography including carbon-coated porous particles, the carbon-coated porous particles including porous particles each having a coating layer containing an amorphous carbon on a surface.

Iron metal organic framework materials

The invention relates to an improved process for preparing metal-organic framework materials, metal-organic frameworks obtainable by such processes, methods using the same, and the use thereof. The process of the invention provides an improved process for preparing metal-organic frameworks in particular monocrystalline metal-organic frameworks having large crystal sizes. The invention also relates to metal organic frameworks comprising iron or titanium, and their uses.

Adsorbent composition and a process for preparing the same

An adsorbent composition for reducing impurities of heat transfer fluids is provided and a process for the preparation of the same. The adsorbent composition comprises a layered double hydroxide in an amount in the range of 15 to 70 wt % of the total mass of the composition; alumina in an amount in the range of 30 to 85 wt % of the total mass of the composition; and optionally activated bauxite in an amount in the range of 15 to 50 wt % of the total mass of the composition. The adsorbent composition is economical and eco-friendly, having feed processing capacity in the range of 58 to 600 gm/gm.

Method to provide pipeline quality natural gas

The present invention relates to a method of separating and recovering NGLs from a natural gas feedstream. Specifically, the present method allows for the separation of ethane and heavier hydrocarbons and/or propane and heavier hydrocarbons from a raw natural gas feedstream to provide pipeline quality natural gas. One embodiment of this method provides for the use of a regenerable adsorbent media which is regenerated by a microwave heating system. Said regeneration step may be operated as a batch process, a semi-continuous process, or a continuous process.

OLEFIN POLYMERIZATION CATALYST SYSTEM COMPRISING MESOPOROUS ORGANOSILICA SUPPORT

A catalyst system comprising a combination of: 1) one or more catalyst compounds comprising at least one nitrogen linkage; 2) a support comprising an organosilica material, which is a mesoporous organosilica material; and 3) an optional activator. Useful catalysts include pyridyldiamido transition metal complexes, HN5 compounds, and bis(imino)pyridyl complexes. The organosilica material is a polymer of at least one monomer of Formula [Z.sup.1OZ.sup.2SiCH.sub.2].sub.3(1), where Z.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkyl group, or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer and Z.sup.2 represents a hydroxyl group, a C1-C.sub.4alkoxy group, a C.sub.1-C.sub.6 alkyl group, or an oxygen atom bonded to a silicon atom of another monomer. This invention further relates to processes to polymerize olefins comprising contacting one or more olefins with the above catalyst system.
