Metal organic framework polymer composites
Provided are composite materials that include a polymeric material and one or more metal organic frameworks intermixed with the polymeric material. A polymeric material may be a block copolymer that is optionally polymerized prior to combination with the metal organic framework. The composite materials are useful for many applications including as sorbents for removal of a chemical, optionally a toxic chemical, from a surface where the surface is contracted with the composite material which reacts with or adsorbs the chemical and is then removed to remove the chemical from the surface.
Adsorbent Structures for the Removal of Phosphates and Ammonia from Wastewater and Methods of Use
High surface area magnesium carbonate structures formed from a calcined slurry of magnesium carbonate powder and a binder and method for their use to adsorb aqueous phosphate and ammonia for recovery and repurposing as a fertilizer are disclosed. A binder is utilized to aid in the formation of useful structures. The binder significantly increase porosity and the available surface area for adsorption.
METAL ORGANIC FRAMEWORK ABSORBENT PLATFORMS FOR REMOVAL OF CO2 AND H2S FROM NATURAL GAS
Provided herein are metal organic frameworks comprising metal nodes and N-donor organic ligands which have high selectivity and stability in the present of gases and vapors including H.sub.2S, H.sub.2O, and CO.sub.2. Methods include capturing one or more of H.sub.2S, H.sub.2O, and CO.sub.2 from fluid compositions, such as natural gas.
Adsorbents and methods of making and using adsorbents
An adsorbent composition having a bismuth material on a support containing at least one of a metal oxide, a metalloid oxide or an activated carbon and methods of making and using the same. The adsorbent composition is useful for adsorbing arsine from a fluid stream.
Hydrated lime product
A hydrated lime product exhibiting superior reactivity towards HCl and SO.sub.2 in air pollution control applications. Also disclosed is a method of providing highly reactive hydrated lime and the resultant lime hydrate where an initial lime feed comprising calcium and impurities is first ground to a particle-size distribution with relatively course particles. Smaller particles are then removed from this ground lime and the smaller particles are hydrated and flash dried to form a hydrated lime, which is then milled to a significantly smaller particle size than that of the relatively course particles. The resultant lime hydrate product has available CaOH of greater than 92%, a citric acid reactivity of less than 20 seconds, a BET surface area greater than 18, a D90 less than 10 m, a D50 less than 4 m, a D90/D50 less than 3, and a large pore volume of greater than 0.2 BJH.
Chromogenic absorbent material for animal litter
A chromogenic absorbent material for an animal litter includes an oxidizing agent responsive to peroxidatic/pseudoperoxidatic activity in an animal excretion or a first catalytic compound generating the oxidizing agent in situ. The material also includes a chromogenic indicator being chromogenically responsive to the oxidizing activity of the oxidizing agent, and an absorptive material which is porous, for absorbing the animal excretion. The absorptive material includes a water-absorbing polysaccharide providing absorptive properties to the chromogenic absorbent material; and may also include a second polysaccharide and a superabsorbent polymer. The material may be obtained in the form of particles having a low density and a high porosity, and is usable in conjunction with an animal litter for detecting various diseases in animals.
Carbon dioxide sorbents for indoor air quality control
Disclosed in certain embodiments are carbon dioxide sorbents that include porous particles impregnated with an amine compound.
HEAVY METAL REMOVAL USING MINERALS BEING FUNCTIONALIZED WITH ADSORPTION ENHANCERS
The present invention relates to the use of a particulate mineral material being functionalized with one or more adsorption enhancing agents for scavenging and removing ionic metal contaminants from an aqueous medium. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a corresponding process for scavenging and removing ionic metal contaminants from an aqueous medium as well as to a functionalized particulate mineral material and a process for making such material.
MULTILAYER ABSORBENT FILTERING ITEM COMPRISING A FIRST LAYER OF A POROUS ACTIVATED CARBON SUPPORT DISPOSED ON A NONWOVEN POLYESTER-FIBRE FELT, A SECOND LAYER OF A POLYMER FILM AND A THIRD LAYER OF AN ACTIVE INGREDIENT; METHOD FOR OBTAINING SAID ITEM; AND USE OF SAME
The present invention relates to a multilayer absorbent filtering item comprising: a first layer of a porous activated carbon support disposed on a nonwoven polyester-fibre felt; a second layer, where the surface of the first layer is bonded to a film of polymer and low-foam surfactants (mixture A); and a third layer, where the surface of the second layer is bonded to a film comprising an active ingredient and a low-foam surfactant in an acid aqueous medium (mixture B), the top face of said polymer film being bonded to the active ingredient, and the bottom face thereof adhering to the activated carbon, by means of polar and non-polar interactions. Also disclosed are a method for obtaining the multilayer absorbent filtering item and the use of the multilayer absorbent filtering item.
BEADS FOR BLOOD PROCESSING
Provided are beads for blood processing having porous beads and a polymer carried on the surface of the porous beads, wherein: the porous beads are configured from at least one resin selected from the group consisting of acrylic resins, styrene resins, and cellulose resins; and the polymer includes a specific monomer defined in the description as a monomer unit.
