A process for producing an adsorption unit is disclosed, wherein an adsorber bed of the adsorption unit is filled with a bed of an adsorbent which is selected from a multitude of adsorbents by a test method, wherein, in the test method, a particle of each adsorbent is repeatedly laden with a sorbate and regenerated again, which converts the particle to an aged particle, and a fracture property B of the aged particle of each adsorbent is determined, wherein the adsorbent for the bed is selected depending on the fracture property B determined from the multitude of adsorbents.
Integrated C3—C4 hydrocarbon dehydrogenation process
An integrated process for producing C3-C4 olefins or di-olefins including: contacting a hydrocarbon feed and a catalyst feed in a fluidized dehydrogenation reactor under conditions such that a product mixture is formed and the catalyst is at least partially deactivated; transferring the product mixture and the catalyst from the reactor to a cyclonic separation system under conditions such that the product mixture is converted to form a new product mixture and is separated from the catalyst; transferring at least a portion of the catalyst to a regenerator vessel and heating it in order to combust the coke deposited thereon; subjecting the catalyst to a conditioning step to form an oxygen-containing, at least partially reactivated catalyst; and transferring the partially reactivated catalyst back to the fluidized dehydrogenation reactor.

A dual-pressure plant for the synthesis of nitric acid comprising: a reactor (4) providing a gaseous effluent (15) containing nitrogen oxides; an absorption tower (6) nitrogen oxides react with water providing raw nitric acid and, said absorption tower operating at a pressure greater than the pressure of the reactor; a compressor (5) elevating the pressure of the reactor effluent (15) to the absorption pressure; said plant also comprising a first bleacher (37) and a second bleacher (7), said first bleacher (37) stripping with air (39) nitrogen oxides from the output stream (27) of the absorption tower (6) providing a partially stripped nitric acid stream (40) and a nitrogen oxides-loaded air stream (41), the former being fed to the second bleacher (7) and the latter being recycled to the delivery-side of said compressor (5).

A synthesis process comprising steam reforming a gaseous hydrocarbon feedstock (11); exothermically reacting the resulting synthesis gas; removing heat from said exothermal reaction by producing steam (32); using said steam as heat input to the steam reforming, wherein the steam reforming comprises: a) forming a mixture (30) containing steam and hydrocarbons by at least the step of adding a first stream of water (26) to the hydrocarbon feedstock (11); b) heating said mixture (30) by indirect heat exchange with synthesis gas; c) reforming said mixture after said heating step b).

A hydrogen production facility having equipment with a nitridation protective layer is provided. The hydrogen production facility can include a reformer configured to catalytically convert a feed stream into a product stream comprising hydrogen, the reformer having a plurality of catalyst tubes and a plurality of burners configured to provide heat to the catalyst tubes; means for providing the feed stream to the reformer from an ammonia source, wherein the feed stream comprises at least 90% of ammonia, wherein the plurality of catalyst tubes comprise a nitridation protective layer on an inner surface of the catalyst tubes.
METHOD FOR CONVERTING AN EXISTING INDUSTRIAL UNIT TO PRODUCE HYDROGEN FROM AMMONIA
A method for converting an existing steam methane reformer (SMR) to produce hydrogen via ammonia cracking is provided. The method can include the steps of: providing the existing SMR, wherein the SMR was formerly used to produce hydrogen from a hydrocarbon feedstock; and improving the nitridation resistance of the inner surface of the equipment by adding a protective layer to an inner surface of equipment to be used in the existing SMR, wherein the equipment is selected from the group consisting of a catalyst tube, feed piping, a feed preheater, process gas heat exchangers, and combination thereof.

METHOD FOR REVAMPING A HIGH PRESSURE MELAMINE PLANT
A high pressure melamine plant comprising a synthesis section and a melamine purification section, wherein the synthesis section provides a first melamine-containing stream (6), and said melamine purification section comprises: a quencher (2) receiving said first melamine-containing stream (6) from the synthesis section; a stripper (3) fed with a second melamine-containing stream (7) from said quencher (2), wherein purified melamine (11) is collected and vapours (10) are extracted; a heat exchanger (12), wherein said vapours (10) are condensed providing a condensed stream (14); an absorber (4) fed with said condensed stream (14) providing an aqueous solution (15) comprising ammonia and carbon dioxide, at least a portion (15b) of said aqueous solution being exported from the purification section (200) of the plant.
Catalyst tube for reforming
The inventions is directed to a new design for catalyst tubes, which makes it possible to apply the concept of regenerative reforming into steam reformers having catalyst tube inlets and outlets at opposite sides of the furnace chamber. The catalyst tube comprises an inlet for process gas to enter the catalyst tube and an outlet for process gas to exit the catalyst tube, which inlet and outlet are located at opposite ends of the catalyst tube. The catalyst tube further comprises a first annular channel comprising the catalyst, a second annular channel for process gas to flow countercurrently or co-currently to the process gas flowing through the first annular channel.
