APPARATUS HAVING A MULTITUDE OF PARTICLES AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
20180029002 · 2018-02-01 ·

An apparatus includes a substrate having a recess and a multitude of particles arranged in the recess. A first portion of the particles is joined to a porous structure by means of a coating. A second portion of the particles is not joined by means of the coating. The first portion of the particles is arranged closer to an opening of the recess than the second portion of the particles so that a leaking of the second portion of the particles from the recess through the opening is prevented.

Disconnector Device

The present invention relates to an automated radiosynthesis device adapted for enhanced automatic disconnection of a disposable kit once a radiosynthesis has been carried out. The automated radiosynthesis device of the invention therefore reduces the time to remove the disposable kit from the radiosynthesis device and reduces radiation exposure to the operator.

Methods, materials, and systems for converting organic acids to alcohols

Systems and methods are disclosed for synthesizing one or more simple alcohols from mixtures including organic acids, water, and a superparamagnetic catalyst exposed to fluctuating magnetic fields under ambient conditions.

Fluidics apparatus and fluidics substrate

A method of using a fluidics apparatus for lysing a cell. In the method, the cell is placed in a fluid sample contacting a substrate surface. The method further includes providing surface acoustic waves (SAWs) at the substrate surface, causing cell lyses.

CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS DEVICE

An aspect of a chemical synthesis device according to the invention includes a substrate in which a channel for chemically synthesizing a plurality of fluids with each other is formed, and a wiring portion that is provided in the substrate, in which an electric resistance value of the wiring portion changes due to the wiring portion coming into contact with the fluids.

Fluid reactors

Fluid reactors include a sealed housing enclosing a reactor core that includes at least one substrate-free multichannel reactor core element. Each reactor core element is made from a non-substrate mounted, open pore cellular network material having an asymmetric, tortuous, bi-continuous two-phase material structure and contains multiple perforating fluid channels. Multiple reactor core elements can be serially and/or parallelly piped in a sealed manner to form a reactor core for a fluid reactor with a higher production capacity.

Monitoring catalytic chemical reactions using liquid crystals

Methods for monitoring catalytic chemical reactions are provided. Such a method may comprise (a) exposing a solid surface to conditions to induce a chemical reaction of reactants at an interface formed between the solid surface and a liquid crystal, wherein the solid surface catalyzes the chemical reaction and the liquid crystal is characterized by an anchoring orientation that changes during the chemical reaction; and (b) measuring the anchoring orientation of the liquid crystal at one or more time points and at one or more locations on the solid surface during step (a). Systems for carrying out the methods are also provided.

Devices and methods for radiopharmaceutical synthesis

A device for synthesizing a radioisotope-labelled target tracer includes a microfluidic chip having an SCX module configured to concentrate and capture a radioisotope from a radioisotope solution and release the captured radioisotope therefrom, an SAX module configured to purify the released radioisotope from the SCX module, and an passive in-plane mixing/reaction module configured to mix the purified radioisotope with a target precursor and perform labelling reaction to synthesize the radioisotope-labelled target tracer therein. The device also includes a heating means positioned in relation to the microfluidic chip for heating the microfluidic chip during the labelling reaction; and a first valve fluidically coupled with the SCX and SAX modules and a second valve fluidically coupled with the SAX module and the in-plane mixing/reaction module for operably controlling transit of various substances or mixtures among the SCX module, the SAX modules and the in-plane mixing/reaction module.
