Electrode assembly for use in a plasma gasifier that converts combustible material to synthesis gas
An electrode assembly having a tubular support jacket that defines an internal compartment. The internal compartment is actively cooled by coolant. An electrode tip is coupled to the tubular support jacket. The electrode tip receives electricity through the tubular support jacket. An insulator construct surrounds at least part of the tubular support jacket. The insulator construct includes an insulation base, an insulation tube and an insulation cap. A gas supply conduit is interposed between the tubular support jacket and the insulation tube, wherein the gas supply conduit receives a working gas from a working gas supply. A thermally conductive casing surrounds at least part of the insulator construct. The thermally conductive casing is actively cooled. The thermally conductive casing actively cools the insulator construct, the underlying tubular support jacket, and thus the electrode tip. The active cooling reduces over-heating of the electrode tip and prevents excessive consumption and erosion.
WASTE TO ENERGY SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR SOLID WASTE FEEDSTOCK
A waste conversion apparatus and a method of implementing the apparatus are provided. The apparatus includes a control system, and a feedstock analysis system or output analysis system. A plasma forming device within a reactor of the waste conversion apparatus is controlled by the control system to apply a plasma arc to a supply of waste feedstock supplied to the system. Integrated feedback control is provided to the plasma forming device based on an analysis by the feedback analysis system to characterize of the supply of waste feedstock, and/or an analysis by the output analysis system to characterize a gas product from the reactor.
PLASMA GAS REACTOR
The current invention relates to a plasma reactor comprising: a reactor space, an axial gas inlet suitable for fluid flow in an axial direction, said axial inlet comprising radial injection slits for discharging a jet of gaseous mixture into said reactor space, a downstream gas expansion disc, which extends radially from the coaxial inlet and is located downstream of said radial injection slits with respect to said axial direction, plasma generating means suitable for ionizing a gaseous medium within said reactor space, and a cylindrical reactor container, coaxial with said gas inlet, encompassing said reactor space, said reactor container comprising outlet means. The invention further relates to a multistage reactor. The invention also relates to the use of said plasma reactor.
Separation system
(EN) The present invention relates to the field of high efficiency and high flow hydrogen generation and purification from a hydrogen tank provided in the form of ammonia (NH3). In particular, the present invention describes in particular an innovative and compact system for the dissociation of ammonia and therefore the production of molecular hydrogen (H2), all in a cycle totally free of carbon (hence carbon emissions), as well as by the generation of nitrogen oxide and nitric dioxide (NOx).

System for high temperature chemical processing
A method and apparatus for making carbon black. A plasma gas is flowed into a plasma forming region containing at least one, magnetically isolated, plasma torch containing at least one electrode, and forming a plasma. Collecting the plasma formed in a cooled header and flowing the plasma through at least one reaction region to heat the reaction region, and injecting carbon black forming feedstock into the reaction region, resulting in the formation of at least one grade of carbon black. An apparatus for making carbon black is also described including a plasma forming section containing at least one, magnetically isolated plasma torch containing at least one electrode, in fluid flow communication with at least one carbon black forming reactor section, the plasma section and reactor section separated by a plasma formed collection header.
Apparatus and process for synthesizing natural gas using carbon dioxide and water in air
An apparatus for producing a natural gas using carbon dioxide and water in air that includes an air-compressing member, a water collecting member, a water storing member, a carbon dioxide collecting member, a water electrolysis member, and a methanation reaction member. The water electrolysis member electrolyzes water separated from compressed air. The methanation reaction member generates a natural gas by reacting hydrogen from the electrolysis and carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide collecting member. A method of producing a natural gas using carbon dioxide and water in air includes supplying hydrogen electrolyzed from water separated from air and carbon dioxide collected from the dry air to a methanation reaction member to generate a natural gas. A natural gas-synthesizing equipment system includes an apparatus for producing a natural gas using carbon dioxide and water in air.
ATMOSPHERIC PLASMA REACTOR FOR THE LARGE-SCALE PRODUCTION OF CARBON NANOTUBES AND AMORPHOUS CARBON
The present invention addresses to a plasma reactor for the thermal and/or plasmatic decomposition of hydrocarbon molecules aiming at the production of carbon nanotubes on a large scale, as well as amorphous carbon of superior quality in terms of purity. Because it is operated at pressures close to the atmospheric pressure and can operate in a continuous flow regime, said reactor has a superior capacity for the production of carbon nanotubes. The hydrocarbon pyrolysis by means of thermal plasma or the heat derived therefrom produces carbonaceous material that presents a higher purity content than those obtained by the methods most used in the production of solid carbon, which are based, generally, on the burning of part of the load hydrocarbon.
Production of mixed metal oxide nanostructured compounds
A method for the rapid and controlled synthesis of mixed metal oxide nanoparticles using relatively low temperature plasma oxidation of liquid droplets of predetermined mixed metal precursors is disclosed. The resulting nanoparticles reflect the metal precursor stoichiometries and the mixed metal oxide's metastable phase can be controlled. The synthesis of mixed transition metal oxide comprising binary metal oxides, ternary mixed metal oxides, quaternary mixed metal oxides and pentanary mixed metal oxides are demonstrated herein.
MULTI-WELL MICROPATTERNING BY ABLATION
The present invention is drawn to the generation of micropatterns of biomolecules and cells on standard laboratory materials through selective ablation of a physisorbed biomolecule with oxygen plasma. In certain embodiments, oxygen plasma is able to ablate selectively physisorbed layers of biomolecules (e.g., type-I collagen, fibronectin, laminin, and Matrigel) along complex non-linear paths which are difficult or impossible to pattern using alternative methods. In addition, certain embodiments of the present invention relate to the micropatterning of multiple cell types on curved surfaces, multiwell plates, and flat bottom flasks. The invention also features kits for use with the subject methods.
