Composition and Methods for Producing Tobacco Plants and Products Having Reduced Tobacco-Specific Nitrosamines (TSNAs)
The present disclosure provides approaches for reducing tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) in tobacco. Some of these approaches include genetically engineering tobacco plants to increase one or more antioxidants, increase oxygen radicle absorbance capacity (ORAC), or reduce nitrite. Also provided are methods and compositions for producing modified tobacco plants and tobacco products therefrom comprising reduced TSNAs.
Plasma separation device
Devices and methods are provided that permit efficient and selective separation of liquid biological specimens into at least two constituent components to facilitate subsequent quantitative and qualitative analysis on at least one analyte of interest in at least one of the components. The devices generally include one or more sample deposition regions supported on a base. Each sample deposition region includes a separation membrane for separating the liquid biological specimen into two different fractions. The first fraction is trapped by the separation membrane while the second fraction passes through the separation membrane and into a respective collection membrane. The separation and collection membranes are easily separable from the devices and can be utilized for further processing and analysis.
A STACK OF HISTOLOGY CASSETTES
A stack of histology cassettes configured to be inserted into a hopper of a printer, wherein each histology cassette in the stack includes a bottom face, a top face opposite the bottom face, a front face, a rear face opposite the front face, a first lateral face and a second lateral face opposite the first lateral face. The top face of the histology cassette is open to allow a sample to be received within the histology cassette. The histology cassettes have substantially the same orientation within the stack. The histology cassettes in the stack are arranged with a first histology cassette at the bottom of a stack, and each subsequent histology cassette in the stack up to a last histology cassette in the stack is arranged with its bottom face positioned on the top face of a preceding histology cassette in the stack.
SPECIMEN COLLECTION TUBE
The present invention relates to a tube for collecting specimens. The tube includes a tubular body having an inner surface which defines a hollow space for carrying a carrier solution or the like. The tube also includes a plurality of ridges projecting inwardly from the inner surface for engagement with at least a portion of a specimen collection tool for facilitating release of at least some of specimens therefrom.
A SWAB AND CASE THEREOF, AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
The present invention discloses, inter alia, swab, kit and a case, disclose a swab as defined above, administrable either or both into and onto a sample in a method comprising steps of providing the pouch-like envelope (1) with the opening (2), the inner surface (1i) and the at least one external surface (1e) with the at last one swabbing portion; inserting a handle into the swabbing portion; applying the swabbing portion either or both onto and into the substance; in-out rolling up the envelope so that the external portion hereto applied either or both onto and into the substance is position within the envelope; wherein at least one of the following s held true: the envelope characterized as a sleeve-like or sock-like elongated member having a main longitudinal axis, configured to be in-out rolled-up along the main longitudinal axis; and the envelope characterized as flexible pouch-like envelope, further characterized by being width-wise squeezable along an axis perpendicular to the main longitudinal axis thereby tightly encapsulated within at least two external case's walls. The present invention discloses a method for both sampling a substance and storing the same, characterized by steps: providing a pouch-like envelope (1), configured to be in-out rolled-up having an opening (2); the pouch comprises an inner surface (1i); and at least one external surface (1e) with at last one swabbing portion (3); the envelope either or both (a) characterized as a sleeve-like or sock-like elongated member having a main longitudinal axis, configured to be in-out rolled-up along the main longitudinal axis; and (b) flexible pouch-like envelope, characterized by being width-wise squeezable along an axis perpendicular to the main longitudinal axis thereby tightly encapsulated within two case's walls; inserting a handle into the swabbing portion; applying the swabbing portion either or both onto and into the substance; in-out rolling up the envelope so that the external portion hereto applied either or both onto and into the substance is position within the envelope; wherein at least one of the following is held true: the envelope characterized as a sleeve-like or sock-like elongated member having a main longitudinal axis, configured to be in-out rolled-up along the main longitudinal axis; and the envelope characterized as flexible pouch-like envelope, further characterized by being width-wise squeezable along an axis perpendicular to the main longitudinal axis thereby tightly encapsulated within at least two external case's walls.
