Methods for biological sample processing and analysis
Provided are methods for biological sample processing and analysis. A method can comprise providing a substrate configured to rotate. The substrate can comprise an array having immobilized thereto a biological analyte. A solution comprising a plurality of probes may be directed, via centrifugal force, across the substrate during rotation of the substrate, to couple at least one of the plurality of probes with the biological analyte. A detector can be configured to detect a signal from the at least one probe coupled to the biological analyte, thereby analyzing the biological analyte.

A droplet collection unit of an embodiment includes a generator and processing circuitry. The generator produces droplets each containing a microorganism and a substrate that reacts with an enzyme derived from the microorganism. The processing circuitry detects a reaction between the enzyme and the substrate in each droplet. The processing circuitry sorts the droplets on the basis of a detection result of the reaction.
Passive fluidic connection between two hydrophilic substrates
A capillary driven microfluidic system and a biosensing device including the capillary driven microfluidic system are provided. The capillary driven microfluidic system includes: a first substrate comprising at least one microfluidic channel ending in an opening, and having, adjacent to the opening, a protruding element; and a second substrate comprising at least one open cavity. The at least one protruding element and the at least one cavity include at least one hydrophilic surface. In addition, the at least one protruding element and the at least one cavity may be adapted for engaging with one another for providing transfer of a fluid between the first substrate and the second substrate. A space between the at least one hydrophilic surface of the at least one protruding element and the at least one hydrophilic surface of the at least one cavity is provided, where the separation between said surfaces is such that capillary forces are generated on the fluid upon entering inside the space.
FLOW CELLS AND METHODS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE AND USE
A flow cell that includes (a) a gasket interposed between a first substrate and a second substrate, wherein the gasket, the first substrate and the second substrate are impermeable to aqueous liquid and liquid adhesive, wherein the gasket has a footprint on the first substrate that delineates a channel for containing the aqueous liquid; (b) a via in the gasket, the via containing a solidified liquid adhesive that bonds the first substrate to the second substrate, wherein the solidified liquid adhesive in the via is separated from the channel by the gasket; and (c) a channel port connecting the channel to the exterior of the flow cell, wherein the channel port is permeable to the aqueous liquid.

A rotor assembly includes a rotor plate to rotate around a first axis, a bucket attached to the rotor plate and to rotate around a second axis, and a stop plate to rotate around the first axis between an open position and a closed position. When in the closed position, the stop plate engages the bucket to fix an angular position of the bucket relative to a plane of rotation of the rotor assembly. The rotor assembly further includes a housing for a sensor array component, the housing disposed in the bucket and including a solution inlet, a solution outlet, a transfer basin, a solution retainer disposed between the solution outlet and the transfer basin, and a collection reservoir in fluid communication with the transfer basin. The solution inlet and the solution outlet to engage ports of a flow cell of a sensor array.

The present disclosure discloses a microfluidic structure, a microfluidic chip and a detection method. The microfluidic structure includes: a first base substrate and a second base substrate opposite to each other, an antibody area located between the first base substrate and the second base substrate and storing an enzyme-labeled first antibody, a cleaning area storing cleaning liquid, a signal substrate area storing a signal substrate solution and a detection area with a second antibody and an ion sensitive film fixed thereon, wherein all channel areas from the antibody area, the cleaning area and the signal substrate area to the detection area each have a driving electrode structure driving liquid drops to move; and the detection area has a thin film transistor connected with the ion sensitive film.
DROPLET MICROFLUIDIC PLATFORM FOR THE ENHANCED DNA TRANSFER BETWEEN MICROBIAL SPECIES
In an embodiment, the present disclosure pertains to a microfluidic platform composed of a droplet generator having an entry point for donor particles and target particles, a first droplet incubation chamber in fluid communication with the droplet generator, a droplet detection functionality to allow for analysis of the inner content of droplets, and a droplet sorting functionality to allow for the separation of droplets based on the analysis of the inner content of droplets. In another embodiment, the present disclosure pertains to a method for cell-to-cell DNA, RNA, or other genetic material transfer through use of a water-in-oil emulsion microdroplet-based microfluidic platform for automation and high throughput identification or screening of genetic transfer outcomes utilizing the microfluidic platforms as disclosed herein.
