Comminuting apparatus

A device for comminuting media materials that store sensitive information. The device is a rotating mill core with removable flat edged blades, a set of stacked bed knives and a screen. The mill core rotates in close proximity to adjustable bed knives to shear the material being fed before passing through a screen in order to grate the material. The mill core has an angular positioned blade constructed and arranged to shear material with said bed knives. The mill core has a mass and is operated at 1000 rpm. A flywheel is further attached to the mill core in order to conserve rotational energy and improve the efficiency of the device. Vacuum ports facilitate cleanup.

The electronics housing has a motor and a microcontroller powered by a smartphone connected by a universal serial bus connector. The container section is sealed at the top by an openable, swivel-mounted cap. The motor has a blade that extends into the container section. The blade connected to the motor by a magnetic connection and the blade is configured to grind material disposed in the container section when the container section is closed.

A food recycler can include a housing having a housing volume, a motor in electrical communication with a controller, a grinding mechanism in mechanical communication with the motor, a bucket having a bucket volume, the bucket being configured with the grinding mechanism contained therein, and a removable filter having a side wall, a top surface, a bottom surface and a filter material, wherein the side wall, the top surface, the bottom surface and the filter material are all made from a compostable or biodegradable material. A ratio of the bucket volume to the housing volume can be between 0.0717 and 0.2857, inclusive. The motor can be configured within the housing adjacent, at least in part, to the bucket.

In operation the waste water contents have a much finer grind which improves efficient removal and reduces the likelihood of shredder pump clogging. The cutter assembly is adapted for mounting to an intake opening of a stationary volute, associated with a shredder pump. As a result, many more cutting surfaces are provided which more effectively and quickly shred the solid materials within the liquid to be expelled.

The main chamber includes a motor connected to a magnetically attached removable blade and propeller. The blade and propeller extend into the chamber when the grinder is assembled. When the cap is closed, the blade and propeller grinds material placed in the chamber and pull air down toward the blade and propeller. When the cap is opened, the blade and propeller function as a fan to generate airflow toward the top of the chamber to dispense ground material out of the chamber. The grinder can also include a microcontroller, a communications device, an infrared volume sensor, a scale, an audible buzzer, a vibration buzzer, and one or more sanitizing LED lights.
