Electrostatic air filter

An electrostatic air filter connected to a high voltage source, including an air flow channel, an ion generator, at least one corona electrode and at least one cumulative electrode, the corona electrodes and the cumulative electrodes are configured so that corona discharges occur between the corona electrodes and the cumulative electrodes due to a first potential difference, causing ionization of contaminant particles present in the air flow channel. A separator of contaminant particles is disposed in the air flow channel and includes input and output electrodes that enable the flow of air therethrough in a direction away from the input electrode to the output electrode and further to the channel outlet. During operation, there is a first potential difference between the corona and input electrodes and a second potential difference between the input and output electrodes, so that the electric field strength in the space between the input and output electrodes is directed opposite to that in the space between the ion generator and the input electrode.

An ion generating device can include a housing having an opening, an anode and a cathode disposed within the housing and having a space between them in fluid communication with the opening, a power source having a negative terminal and a positive terminal with a first connection between the negative terminal and the anode and a second connection between the positive terminal and the cathode, and an air mover disposed to direct an air flow through the space and out of the opening.

A method of making an electronic air filter that requires obtaining a first metallic plate comprising copper and a second metallic plate comprising copper. The method also requires creating a first pattern of slits through the first metallic plate's thickness and a second pattern of slits through the second metallic plate's thickness and expanding (a) the first slitted metallic plate to form a first aperture metallic plate and (b) the second slitted metallic plate to form a second aperture metallic plate wherein when the first aperture metallic plate and the second aperture metallic plate are properly aligned and positioned in an electronic air cleaner device then the apertures in the first aperture metallic plate and the apertures in the second aperture metallic plate misalign or do not align with each other. Another requirement is that the method calls for applying a dielectric conducting and antimicrobial agent polymer material to (a) the first aperture metallic plates to form a first coated, aperture metallic plate and (b) the second aperture metallic plates to form a second coated, aperture metallic plate.

ELECTROSTATIC CHARGER AND ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR

The present disclosure relates to an electrostatic charger and an electrostatic precipitator securing a wide space for charging suspended fine particles contained in a processing airflow. The electrostatic charger includes a discharge electrode formed of a plurality of fibrous conductors and provided to generate and diffuse ions by a discharge, a ground electrode maintained at a ground potential and provided to attract the ions generated and diffused by the discharge electrode to charge suspended fine particles contained in a processing airflow by the ions, where the discharge electrode is disposed between the ground electrodes in the processing airflow, and all or at least a part of the plurality of fibrous conductors of the discharge electrode are disposed on a downstream side of the processing airflow further than an end portion of the ground electrode on the most upstream side of the processing airflow.

Disclosed herein is a charging apparatus and precipitator. The charging apparatus includes a plurality of counter electrodes formed in a plate shape and arranged in a direction intersecting with a ventilation direction to allow respective surfaces thereof to follow the ventilation direction, and a plurality of high voltage electrodes formed in a wire shape and installed between the plurality of counter electrodes. The plurality of counter electrodes includes a first counter electrode having a first electrode area, and a second counter electrode having a second electrode area less than the first electrode area. The first counter electrode and the second counter electrode are alternately arranged.

Provided is an ion generating apparatus, including a housing and an ion generating unit. A waterproof part is provided below an air outlet. The waterproof part includes a discharge port penetrating the waterproof part and in communication with an inside of the housing, and a guide part having a receiving space for receiving a liquid flowing in from the air outlet and guiding the liquid to the discharge port while bypassing an ion exhaust port. By providing the waterproof part below the air outlet to receive the liquid flowing in from the air outlet, the ion generating apparatus may not only prevent the liquid from entering the ion generating unit through the ion exhaust port to affect an ion generation, but also allow a liquid entering the inside of the housing to flow out of the housing along a path that does not come into contact with an electrical component.
