SAMPLE RESERVOIR INSERTS AND METHODS FOR USE IN SEPARATING CELLS FROM A BIOLOGICAL TISSUE SPECIMEN
Embodiments described herein include sample reservoir insert devices and methods of using and making the same. The embodiments can be used for the separation of bone marrow cells from murine and human specimens by centrifugal force. The devices can be sterile, single use rigid embodiments with an attached cap coupled to the sample reservoir insert with a hinge within which the specimens will be placed during the separation procedure.

A swinging bucket centrifuge (1) comprises a rotor (10) with at least one mounting end and at least one bucket (20) mounted to the at least one mounting end of the rotor (10). Therein, the at least one bucket (20) is mounted to the at least one mounting end of the rotor (10) by at least one clevis pin (30) held in a clevis (13) so that the bucket (20) is pivotable about the clevis pin (30).

A centrifuge insert for sample receivers and to a carrier for a centrifuge insert for sample receivers with snap locking connection. The centrifuge insert according to the invention has substantial advantages over known centrifuge inserts. These advantages are not limited to the fact that the carrier is attachable and disengageable in a particularly easy and comfortable manner. It is also feasible to use various carriers for different sample receivers. Furthermore, the centrifuge insert according to the invention is configured particularly light and compact so that a loading of the rotor is significantly lower for identical centrifugation powers or so that significantly higher RCA values can be used.

In embodiments, a bag system may be a blood bag system used to collect blood, separate the blood into components, store the components, and utilize the components in patients. The system box may hold the blood bag system. Processes can then be performed to separate components from the blood.

Equipment and methods for automated sample processing for diagnostic purposes
A tube for sample collection and sample processing in a tube rack includes an upper section, an intermediate section, and a lower section. The intermediate section connects the upper section and the lower section of the tube, and an inner diameter of the intermediate section can decrease from top to bottom. A fastening means can fix the tube in a tube rack. The tube can include a pierceable tube cap sealing the tube, and the tube rack can be configured such that the tube may be pulled off the tube cap by a centrifugation force. The tube can include a volume of density gradient medium covered by a separating gel to enhance sample separation.

The plunger may be configured to be actuated to open the seal and express the portion of the sample.
