FIRE SPRINKLER WITH PRE-DEFLECTOR FLOW SPLITTER
20220266079 · 2022-08-25 ·

A fire protection sprinkler system and method includes a sprinkler which, in use, is operatively connected to a supply pipe. The sprinkler includes a nipple. A frame extends from the nipple. A duct passes through the nipple and frame creating a flow path for a water jet exiting the supply pipe. A deflector is mounted to the frame at a location spaced from the nipple. A splitter is disposed in the water flow path between the supply pipe and the deflector. The splitter separates the water jet into two distinct sub-jets before the water contacts the deflector. The splitter directs the two separate water streams onto the deflector so that less pressure is required resulting in more economical system smaller pipe size, less labor, etc.

Reduced precipitation rate nozzle

A nozzle is provided having a low precipitation rate and uniform fluid distribution to a desired arcuate span of coverage. The nozzle has an inflow port having a shape corresponding to the desired arc of coverage and a size for effecting a low precipitation rate. The nozzle also has a deflector surface with a water distribution profile including ribs for subdividing the fluid into multiple sets of fluid streams. There are at least two fluid streams for distant and close-in irrigation to provide relatively uniform distribution and coverage. The nozzle may be a unitary, one-piece, molded nozzle body including a mounting portion, an inflow port, and a deflector portion.

MULTI-HEAD ARRAY FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM WITH HEAT SHIELDS
20170259095 · 2017-09-14 ·

A fire suppression system in which the water supply line is fitted with repeating arrays or groups of sprinkler heads. Each array is composed of at least two side-discharge sprinklers. The side-discharge sprinklers in each array are aimed so that their coverage areas point in opposite directions. Each side-discharge sprinkler includes a lateral heat shield. The lateral heat shield has a concave heat-concentering side that focuses radiant heat toward the sprinkler's trigger, and a convex heat-scattering side that disperses radiant heat away from the trigger. In some embodiments, the array can include one or more vertical-discharge sprinklers. The vertical-discharge sprinkler may include a heat collector to facilitate early activation of its trigger.

SPRINKLER ASSEMBLY

A sprinkler assembly includes a body, a support, which extends from the body, and a closure device that releasably closes the discharge opening of the body. The sprinkler assembly further includes a trigger that releasably holds the closure device at the discharge opening. The support is adapted to allow the fluid flowing from the discharge opening, when the closure device is released, to pass through the support substantially unimpeded by the support and, further, is adapted to reshape the flow of fluid as it flows through the support.

Nozzle with lateral spray

A nozzle with lateral spray includes a longitudinal bore with an open first end at a proximal end of the body of the nozzle and a dead second end in a distal portion of the body of the nozzle; a recess defined within a lateral wall of the body of the nozzle, which has a bottom and side walls extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the body; and a lateral bore that fluidly connects the longitudinal bore to an opening in the recess and has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the longitudinal bore. A nozzle according to the invention provides a lateral spray that is stronger and better focused than nozzles according to the prior art.

Fire suppression nozzle, nozzle assembly, and method for C6-based solution

A fire suppression nozzle assembly includes a spray-type nozzle for spraying a fire suppression fluid. The spray-type nozzle includes a body portion defining a passage extending longitudinally through the body portion for conveying the fire suppression fluid. The spray-type nozzle also includes a deflector portion coupled to the body portion and configured to spray the fire suppression fluid onto a fire suppression target area using a radial spray pattern.

Pendent vertical sidewall window sprinklers, systems and methods of fire protection

Pendent vertical sidewall fire protection sprinklers, systems and methods for the protection of windows are provided. The sprinklers include a fluid deflection member with an impact surface and an adjacent retention surface having one or more arcuate surface profiles to define a fluid throw channel. The sprinklers and their system installation provide for a maximum sprinkler-to-sprinkler spacing that ranges from over eight feet to fifteen feet (8+ ft. to 15 ft.).

NOZZLE AND SPRINKLER FOR CENTER PIVOT END
20220168759 · 2022-06-02 ·

A sprinkler nozzle is configured for a sprinkler positioned at a distal end of a center pivot irrigation system. The sprinkler nozzle includes a connection part securable to the sprinkler, and a nozzle opening downstream of the connection part. A nozzle opening downstream of the connection part is part-toroidal shaped and partially blocked or skewed to control water flow to portions of the deflector plate according to a desired wetted area. The part-toroidal shape spans an arc less than 360 degrees. The nozzle enables a custom designed water application to complement the other sprinklers that are on the pivot and can be shaped to also apply water a distance beyond the end of the pivot pipe to match the application rate of the sprinklers along the pivot pipe.

The fire suppression system is advantageous in high-challenge applications like facilities where large quantities of combustible items are stored in close proximity, such as in warehouses and attics.

Systems and methods related to fluid splash containment
11339560 · 2022-05-24 ·

Systems and methods for containing fluid splash include using a fluid flow spaced from a vessel and/or fluid surface to effectively trap materials from a fluid stream flowing through the fluid flow. The fluid flow creates a spray envelope in connection with the fluid surface and/or vessel and substantially prevents droplets of the fluid stream from exiting the vessel. The fluid flow is created by allowing a supply fluid to flow through a nozzle oriented to cast a spray pattern into the vessel and/or into contact with the fluid surface. The fluid flow may be selectively activated and deactivated and/or be automatically (e.g., light or motion) activated and deactivated.
