An actuator for a hand operated foam dispensing pump that utilizes a folding nozzle is presented. The folding nozzle of the actuator is configured so as to lock the actuator in place and prevent operation of the pump when the nozzle is folded. The actuator substantially reduces pump closure loosening (back-off) and nozzle breakage during shipping of a filled product by eliminating trigger handles or other conventional nozzle types which protrude from the side of the actuator. As such, the new actuator is particularly well-suited for use in e-commerce where the shipping of unboxed products is becoming increasingly common. The actuator is configured such that actuator depression (actuation) cannot occur when the folding nozzle is in a folded position.

Operating a hand cleaner dispenser for dispensing a cleaning liquid from a reservoir onto a person's hands in a cycle of operation wherein, during a first time interval during the cycle dispensing the liquid onto the hand as a spray, and during a second time interval during the cycle dispensing the liquid onto the hand as a liquid stream.

An exemplary refill unit for an dispenser includes a container for holding a liquid. The container has bottom side with a neck extending from the bottom side. A pump is connected to the neck of the container. The pump has a liquid pump portion that has a liquid pump inlet. The liquid pump inlet is located above the bottom of the container. A shroud is located over the liquid pump inlet and extends downward toward the bottom of the container. An air bleed valve is included and located in the top of the shroud.

A foam dispenser has a pump body and a sprung plunger (2). A one-piece moulded cylinder component (31) comprises a larger diameter portion (32) for an air cylinder and a smaller diameter portion (33) for a liquid cylinder. The plunger (2) carries respective pistons (22,21) movable in the air cylinder and liquid cylinder to pump air and liquid through valved outlets to a mixing chamber (8) in the plunger for foam production. The liquid cylinder has a discrete inlet piece (9) including an inlet valve. The liquid outlet valve is operated by a valve pin (25) connected to a valve pin retainer (39) which is formed integrally as a one-piece moulding with the cylinder component (31).

A foam dispenser utilizing components made from the same or similar materials that can be recycled in a single recycling process or stream includes a plastic spring system acting on spring cones formed in a piston rod and an accumulator, an air valve having multiple flanges to facilitate the flow of air into and out of the foam dispenser, and a liquid piston configured to improve the control of liquid flow through the foam dispenser and which is more easily manufactured.

A pump dispenser having a bottle with a neck and a pump assembly. The pump assembly includes an actuator, a closure connected to the actuator and coupled to the neck of the bottle, a dip tube, and a dual chamber pump. The dual chamber pump includes a piston assembly, a sealing cap, and a housing, which includes a pump chamber, a storage chamber having a cavity, and a core. The sealing cap is rigidly connected to the core and closes the storage chamber at a lower portion such that the substance to be released remains stored in the storage chamber cavity. When the actuator is pushed down for a first time by a user, a piston assembly moves to push down a connecting stem, which pushes down the sealing cap to open the storage chamber for releasing the substance contained in the storage chamber from the bottle.

A method and apparatus for dispensing flowable fluids by dispensing the flowable fluid through a passageway leading to a discharge outlet in one stroke of a piston pump and, in a second opposite stroke of the piston pump, discharging air into the passageway to displace the fluid from the passageway through the outlet.

A foamer dispenser including a mesh filter that is disposed in a mixture flow path of a jet ring to allow a mixture to pass is provided. A connecting flow path area between a liquid flow path and the mixture flow path and a connecting flow path area between an ambient air flow path and the mixture flow path have the relation 2.8S.sub.1/S.sub.23.8, and/or, a smallest flow path area of the mixture flow path is located on an immediately upstream side of the mesh filter, and the smallest flow path area and a flow path area of the mesh filter have the relation 4S.sub.4/S.sub.310.3.

A piston pump with a piston chamber-forming body and a piston-forming element relatively coaxially reciprocally movable to dispense liquid and air from a discharge outlet, which the discharge outlet is fixed relative to the piston chamber-forming body.
