APPARATUS FOR STERILIZING A LIQUID

An apparatus for sterilizing a liquid comprises a container (10) having an inlet (12), an outlet (14) and an interior (16) with an outer wall (18), and at least one light source (32) which is adapted to emit radiation in the ultraviolet wavelength range, in particular UV-C radiation, through the outer wall (18) into the interior (16), the outer wall (18) of the interior (16) for this purpose being configured to be at least partially transparent. The inlet (12) comprises at least one opening (28), which is positioned and aligned in relation to the outer wall (18) of the interior (16) and the at least one light source (32) in order, when a pressure is exerted on the liquid to be admitted through the at least one opening (28) and to be sterilized, to form a liquid jet (30) directed onto the outer wall (18) in a region of the at least one light source (32) and/or above the latter, and/or to form a liquid film (31) there. The liquid jet (30) impinging on the outer wall (18) may, for example, flow down thereon as a thin liquid film (31) in front of the at least one light source (32) and thereby lead to effective sterilization even with a low penetration depth of the UV radiation.

Air purging apparatus for a coater

An air purging coater apparatus is disclosed for purging mixed components from the apparatus disposed in a pipeline at a pipeline site. The apparatus includes a remote-controlled apparatus for insertion within the pipeline at the pipeline site. The remote-controlled apparatus includes a drive for controllably moving the remote-controlled apparatus internally within the pipeline. A high-pressure mixing device defines a first and second inlet controllably connected to a pressurized and further pressurized source respectively of a first and second component. The high-pressure mixing device defines a high-pressure mixing chamber connected to the first and the second inlets for mixing together the first and second components. The high-pressure mixing device defines an outlet connected to the high-pressure mixing chamber for receiving a flow therethrough of the mixed components. A spin head defines an internal conical surface and a baffle so that the mixed components are applied to an inside surface of the pipeline. The high-pressure mixing device is controllably movable from an application disposition thereof to a purging disposition. In the purging disposition, the flow of the mixed components is terminated and a source of pressurized air flows into and through the first and second inlets and the high-pressure mixing chamber and the outlet for purging any residual mixed components from the high-pressure mixing device thereby avoiding any need for the use of a potentially hazardous solvent.

A system for applying a chemical agent within a pipe includes a skid assembly, moveable longitudinally within the pipe. The skid assembly has a bottom positionable on a bottom, internal portion of the pipe. A delivery nozzle is carried by the skid assembly and is coupleable to a chemical agent supply. A dispensing tip delivers a controlled stream of chemical agent within the pipe toward an internal surface of the pipe. The tip is held at or above a surface of fluid carried by the pipe while at least a portion of the skid assembly is positioned below the fluid surface. The dispensing tip is limited from delivering the chemical agent downwardly toward the bottom of the skid assembly such that the dispensing tip delivers the controlled stream of chemical agent upwardly away from the bottom surface of the pipe and upwardly away from the fluid surface.

CLEANING NOZZLE FOR CLEANING PIPES

A nozzle is provided for cleaning the interior of pipes that is capable of cutting through obstructions disposed in the interior of pipes. The nozzle comprises a three-dimensional (3-D) fluid mechanics comprising a 3-D redirection configuration that redirects high-pressure fluid received in the nozzle from a fluid source onto multiple pathways, or channels, toward rearwardly-facing jet outlets. The 3-D fluid redirection configuration redirects the water in a manner that reduces or eliminates vibrations in the nozzle that can degrade performance and cause other problems.

High-volume low-pressure end effector

A high-volume low-pressure end effector is presented. The high-volume low-pressure end effector comprises a connection arm and a spray head. The connection arm comprises a housing with flexible conduits running through the housing. The spray head has integral channels configured to receive air and a fluid from the flexible conduits and deliver the air and the fluid to a number of outlets.

Cleaning apparatus including a rotating spray head assembly rotation sensor

A containment tank assembly is described that includes a tank including an inner surface and a cleaning apparatus mounted to the tank. The cleaning apparatus includes an elongate arm and a rotary spray head assembly rotationally coupled to an end of the elongate arm. A rotating nozzle assembly is rotationally coupled to the rotary spray head. A magnetic field source is coupled to the rotary spray head so as to generate a spatially changing magnetic field in accordance with a rotation of the rotary spray head assembly in relation to the end of the elongate arm. A magnet field sensor is carried in a fixed relation to the elongate arm. The magnetic field sensor, in operation, generates a sensor signal that varies in accordance with the spatially changing magnetic field in accordance with the rotation of the rotary spray head assembly.
