Method and application group for applying a fluid onto a substrate
A fluid for application onto a substrate is provided in a cavity of a hollow cylindrical application roller that has porous roller wall. Before reaching the transfer point to the substrate, fluid is regionally selectively pushed back away from the outer shell surface of the application roller, into the porous roller wall, by a knockback pressure, in order to regionally selectively produce the effect that, at the transfer point, fluid is located at the outer shell surface of the application roller or no fluid is located at the outer shell surface of the application roller. A regionally selective application of fluid onto a substrate may thus be efficiently produced.

An apparatus including a grid having a plurality of rows and columns; a base, to which the grid is configured to be fixed; a liquid container; and a liquid application device; wherein the liquid application device is removably attached to the grid and configured to move along the grid when attached to the grid; and wherein the liquid application device is connected to the liquid container so that it receives liquid from the liquid container. The liquid application device may include a brush, a roller, and/or a spray device. The liquid may be paint or an adhesive, and for adhesive, wallpaper may be applied after the adhesive. The grid may be configured to be fixed parallel or perpendicular to the base, when the base is parallel to a floor surface, depending on whether the liquid is being applied to a vertical wall or to a ceiling.
Slot Die Coating Using Concave Die Lip Over Deformable Back-Up Roll
Methods and apparatuses for applying coatings on a moving web are provided. A slot die including a concave die lip coating surface and a back-up roll engage with each other. The back-up roll has a deformable inner layer with a surface thereof covered by a deformable outer layer. The slot die and the flexible web at a contacting area are impressed into the back-up roll with an engagement depth D, which enables formation of a coating having a substantially uniform thickness.

The method includes moving the application head (111, 111′) immediately from a lowered position of the application head (111, 111′), wherein the application roller (122, 122′) applies the product in a predetermined position of the surface of the substrate, to a raised position of the application head (111, 111′), wherein the application roller (122, 122′) does not apply product; or vice versa. An application system using the method for applying a product by roller is also disclosed.

A fluid distribution device, for applying a fluid onto a transfer roller, includes an elongated chamber, at least one inlet for letting a fluid into the chamber, a longitudinal opening extending in the axial direction and adapted to face a transfer roller to allow fluid to exit the chamber and contact the transfer roller, and at least one wiper blade extending along at least a portion of the longitudinal opening. The chamber includes, at each of the two axial ends of the chamber, a wall separating the chamber from a cavity. The wall has a wall surface arranged to face the transfer roller when the device is in use. The wall is dimensioned so that the wall surface will be distanced from the transfer roller when the device is in use, so as to allow fluid to be present in a gap between the wall surface and the transfer roller.

A glue applying mechanism of an edge banding machine for applying glue to an oblique surface and a vertical surface of a workpiece includes a base including a glue tub, and a glue applying unit rotatably disposed on the glue tub and including a glue shaft and an obliquely glue applying member connected to the top end of the glue shaft and having a glue applying surface which is a tapered surface with a wide top and a narrow bottom. At least the partial top of the glue shaft and the glue applying surface are exposed outside the glue tub. The glue applying unit is rotatable to extract the glue in the glue tub to the outer surface of the glue shaft and the glue applying surface, enabling the glue to be applied to the oblique and vertical surfaces of the workpiece simultaneously by only one glue applying mechanism.

Lacquer transfer device
A device for a lacquer transfer includes a frame, transfer roller with a circumferential lateral wall, drive unit for rotating the transfer roller, and slit nozzle with a muzzle end for dispensing lacquer. The slit nozzle includes a first nozzle-part, second nozzle-part and deformation unit. The deformation unit is attached to the first nozzle-part, the lateral wall passing in a rotation direction subsequently the deformation unit and the muzzle end during transfer unit rotation. The lateral wall of the transfer roller is deformed by the deformation unit in the radial direction resulting in a deformation section of the lateral wall in the rotation direction behind the deformation unit, the muzzle end of the slit nozzle arranged for dispensing lacquer into depressions of the lateral wall. The transfer roller can roll with the outside contact surface on a work surface of a work piece for transferring lacquer from the depressions to the work surface of the work piece.

A device for lacquer transfer is disclosed having a frame, a transfer roller with a circumferential lateral wall, and a slit nozzle for dispensing lacquer, wherein an outside contact surface of the lateral wall includes several depressions. The transfer roller is mounted rotatably about an axis of rotation to the frame, wherein the slit nozzle is arranged for dispensing lacquer into respective depressions in the lateral wall while the transfer roller is rotated about the axis of rotation, wherein the transfer roller is configured to roll with the outside contact surface on a work surface of a work piece for transferring the lacquer from the depressions to the work surface of the work piece, wherein the slit nozzle at its muzzle end includes an upper lip and a lower lip as well as a slit between the upper and lower lips for dispensing lacquer.
