Adhesive composition and masking article for producing precise paint lines
An adhesive article for masking a portion of a substrate surface from a liquid coating applied to the surface includes a support having first and second opposed major surfaces, and a cationic or zwitterionic adhesive composition disposed on at least a portion of at least one of the first and second opposed major surfaces. The adhesive composition provides a barrier that impedes the migration of the coating past the edge of the adhesive article.
DEVICE FOR LACQUER TRANSFER
A device and method for lacquer transfer includes a lacquer application unit and at least one of a masking application unit and a masking removal unit, the application unit for applying lacquer to a work surface, wherein the masking application unit is configured to apply a masking to the work surface and is attached to the lacquer application unit so the masking application unit is moved in the application direction ahead of the lacquer application unit across the work surface when the lacquer application unit is moved across the work surface in the application direction. The masking removal unit can remove a previously applied masking from the work surface and is attached to the lacquer application unit such that the masking removal unit is moved in the application direction behind the lacquer application unit across the work surface when the lacquer application unit is moved across the work surface in the application direction.
Coating adhesion promotors and methods of using the same
Coating adhesion promotors and methods of coating a substrate are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a method of coating a substrate includes applying an adhesion promotor over a primer, where the primer overlies the substrate. The adhesion promotor includes water. A first colored coat is applied over the adhesion promotor, and the first colored coat is flash dried. Tape is applied in a pattern over the first colored coat prior to the first colored coat fully curing. A second colored coat is applied over the first colored coat and over the tape, and the tape is removed from the first colored coat prior to the first colored coat fully curing.
GAP SECTION MULTILAYER ELECTRODE PROFILE
Systems and methods of the present disclosure include applying a mask to a substrate before coating the substrate with a multilayer composite to form an electrode. The mask may be removed to produce desired gaps in the coating for further manufacturing of wound battery cell designs and the like. In some examples, the mask comprises a single-sided thermal-release tape.
APPARATUS FOR APPLYING PROTECTIVE FILMS
An improved method of protecting finished surfaces of, for example, automobiles replaces the prior art methods of spraying and hand laying large plastic sheets. In this method a slotted die extrudes a ribbon of a polymeric emulsion onto the surface to be protected under robotic control so as to maintain a constant spacing between die and surface. The die can be moved quickly and with great precision. The applied film is cured and, at a later time, is peeled from the surface.
Apparatus for applying protective films
An applicator die for creating undivided ribbons of polymeric film and a method of using the die to apply an emulsified polymeric material in ribbons to a fully or partially finished surface of an automobile body. In one application, the ribbon is applied as a peelable film to an automobile body and in another application, a ribbon is applied to a rocker panel as an anti-chip coating. For both applications, the applicator die has an internal gallery and an outlet slot with flared edge surfaces to emit a laminarized ribbon of polymer-based material at a distance from the target surface where the opposite edges of the ribbon have become essentially parallel.
Masking device
A masking tape may be used for covering a masking area. The masking tape includes a plurality of masking devices coupled together. Each masking device includes a perimeter and an adhesive layer. Each masking device is coupled to at least two laterally adjacent masking devices at given connection points along the perimeter. Each connection point is weak relative to the masking devices. The adhesive layer couples each masking device to a lower adjacent masking device.
Masking device
A masking device for covering a masking area includes a first member having a first tab portion and a first base portion. The masking device also includes a second member having a second tab portion and a second base portion. A pull tab of the masking device includes the first tab portion coupled to the second tab portion. The masking device further includes a third member having a member connection surface and a masking connection surface. The member connection surface is opposite the masking connection surface. A base of the masking device includes the first base portion, the second base portion, and the third member. A first adhesive couples the member connection surface of the third member to the first base portion and to the second base portion. The masking connection surface of the third member is made to removably attach to the masking area.
MANICURE KIT AND METHOD THEREOF
A manicure nail kit and a method of applying and manufacturing the nail kit, the manicure nail kit including at least a nail paint with a solid nail tip color and a nail bed color formed from a diluted version of the nail tip color with a clear coat.
Method for forming parting line
A method for forming a parting line in a coating using an easily peelable coating material comprising (i) attaching a masking tape to a part not to be coated on a boundary between a part to be coated and the part not to be coated along the boundary; (ii) performing a process to improve an adhesiveness with an easily peelable coating material on surfaces of a part in contact with the boundary of the part to be coated and/or a part in contact with the boundary of the masking tape; (iii) applying the easily peelable coating material over surfaces of the part to be coated and the part in contact with the boundary of the masking tape; and (iv) peeling off the masking tape.
