Slotted nozzle
A slotted nozzle for discharging a liquid adhesive to a narrow edge of a substrate includes a nozzle body, a nozzle slot formed in the nozzle body, a passage in the nozzle body for supplying the adhesive to the nozzle slot, and a slot-shaped outlet opening of the nozzle slot. The nozzle body is configured in the region of averted ends of the nozzle slot that are based on the longitudinal extent of the nozzle slot in such a manner that an increased outlet of the adhesive through the outlet opening takes place in the region of the averted ends of the nozzle slot.
OFFSET MASKING DEVICE AND METHOD
A mask includes a masking body including at least a first edge, a second edge, and a third edge, together defining at least part of a perimeter around a first surface and a second opposing surface. A standoff arrangement includes at least one projection extending from the first or second surface of the masking body. The at least one projection is connected to the first or second surface at a location inward from the at least one edge of the masking body, thereby defining a first overhanging portion of the masking body overhanging the at least one projection proximate to the at least one edge of the masking body.
MASK FORMING SYSTEM FOR PROTECTING A STRUCTURE AND A METHOD OF FORMING A MASK FOR THE SAME
A mask forming system for protecting a structure and a method of forming a mask for protecting the structure includes a masking material having a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer sandwiched together. The masking material is unrolled across a platform and a plurality of features are generated in the masking material, wherein the features include printing, kiss cutting, and double-kiss cutting the masking material. Data is printed on the first layer of the masking material. The first layer of the masking material is kiss cut. The second layer of the masking material is double-kiss cut. The third layer remains uncut and unprinted on during the formation of the mask. The masking material remains in the same orientation during printing and kiss cutting of the first layer, and the masking material remains in the same orientation during double-kiss cutting of the second layer.
TEMPLATES AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING APPLICATION OF MATERIALS AROUND PROTUBERANCES
A template (100) for controlling application of material (620) around a protuberance (610) is disclosed. The protuberance (610) extends from a workpiece (600) and has a base (612). The template (100) comprises a first portion (110) and a second portion (130), removably attached to the first portion (110) at a boundary (120). The first portion (110) comprises a first-portion inner peripheral edge (111) that at least partially defines a positioning opening (115) and that is geometrically complementary to at least a portion of the base (612) of the protuberance (610). The first portion (110) also comprises a first-portion workpiece-facing surface (114) that is adhesive-free. The second portion (130) comprises a visual material-placement indicator (170), located on a second-portion environment-facing surface (136). The second portion (130) also comprises an adhesive layer (160), located on at least a portion of a second-portion workpiece-facing surface (134).
METAL STRIP WITH TRANSPORTATION PROTECTION
The invention relates to a method for provision of a metal strip (1) with a protection for transportation, wherein the metal strip (1), in a Step i), is coated with a plastic, and, in a Step ii), is wound up in multiple layers, wherein in Step i), the plastic is applied to the metal strip in liquid or paste form, and solidified, wherein in Step i), a strippable varnish based on an organic solvent is applied as a plastic.
TEMPORARY DECORATIVE AUTOMOTIVE/PROTECTIVE PAINT BASED ON POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS
The present invention provides a homogeneous, sprayable liquid composition formulated for spraying onto a substrate to protectively cover at least a portion of a surface of the substrate, the sprayable liquid composition comprising: (a) an aqueous polyurethane dispersion (PUD); (b) a pigment; (c) a surfactant; and (d) a silica compound, the sprayable liquid composition, once dry, forming a solid, uniform, peelable coating adhered to the substrate without use of a separate adhesive coating layer, the peelable coating having a greater scratch resistance, and the peelable coating having a greater fuel staining resistance compared to peelable, specialty rubber coatings. The peelable coating may also find use in or as automotive OEM delivery wraps, transportation coatings, ride-hailing advertisements; agricultural and mining equipment; in architectural coatings such as floor coatings, bath tub and shower protective peelable coatings; and in home and office furniture protective coverings.
METHOD OF PREPARING EPOXY COATED BUS BARS FOR USE IN ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT
An automated process for producing exposed electrical contact areas on the conductor part of an epoxy coated bus bar. When the epoxy coating is in the glassy state, one can safely and economically, preferably via automated apparatus, put the epoxy into the rubbery state by positioning the bar and applying localized heat at a select area of the coating; monitoring the heating to above the glass transition temperature of the epoxy, bringing cutting tools into contact with the epoxy for cutting and removing the rubbery coating away from the bus bar, and cooling the bus bar to bring adjacent coating back to the glassy state, thereby leaving an exposed electrical contact area of conductor on the bus bar with little or no surface damage.
Methods and apparatus for applying protective films
An applicator die for creating undivided ribbons of polymeric film and a method of using the die to apply an emulsified polymeric material in ribbons to a fully or partially finished surface of an automobile body. In one application, the ribbon is applied as a peelable film to an automobile body and in another application, a ribbon is applied to a rocker panel as an anti-chip coating. For both applications, the applicator die has an internal gallery and an outlet slot with flared edge surfaces to emit a laminarized ribbon of polymer-based material at a distance from the target surface where the opposite edges of the ribbon have become essentially parallel.
MASKING DEVICE
A masking device for covering a masking area includes a first member having a first tab portion and a first base portion. The masking device also includes a second member having a second tab portion and a second base portion. A pull tab of the masking device includes the first tab portion coupled to the second tab portion.
