FLUORINATED POLYMERS FOR CORROSION PROTECTION OF METAL
The hydrophobic and corrosion resistive film of cross-linked poly(hexafluoroisopropyl methacrylate) was prepared by photopolymerization. The starting materials were a monomer of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl methacrylate, a photoinitiator of hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone, and a cross-linker of poly(ethyleneglycol diacrylate). Photopolymerization was used to start polymerization and to cure the polymer film on an aluminum surface. Drop-casting was used to deposit the fluoropolymer onto an aluminum substrate (AA 3003). The fluoropolymer film has high corrosion protection when measured by potentiodynamic polarization and open circuit potential techniques in an aqueous solution of 3.5% NaCl. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was used to monitor the polymerization process. The dynamic contact angle technique was used to measure the hydrophobicity for the fluorinated polymer coating. Thermal stability of the fluorinated polymer was measured using thermogravimetric analysis. Treatment with strong acid followed by contact angle measurements before and after the treatment confirmed the chemical resistance for the coated aluminum.
Systems and methods for drying wood products
Systems and methods for treating wood products are provided. The methods comprise preconditioning the wood product by irradiating one or more surfaces of the wood product with infrared (IR) and/or ultraviolet (UV) radiation and subsequently treating the wood product. The systems comprise one or more fixtures positioned to irradiate one or more surfaces of the wood product with IR and/or UV radiation, wherein each fixture comprises a reflector and a radiation source.

The present disclosure involves systems for applying finishing treatment to balls. The system includes an arm that transports at least one ball through a plurality of stations. A first station includes a first actuator, which permits introduction of a ball into the arm. A second station includes a buffer, which buffs the surface of the ball and rotates the ball in place relative to the arm, a spray nozzle configured to apply treatment to the ball, and a camera configured to capture images of the ball. A third station includes an inspection camera that captures inspection images of the ball and a rotating plate configured to rotate the ball in place relative to the arm. A fourth station includes a second actuator, which ejects the ball from the arm.
PRE-COATING PROCESSING METHOD AND PRE-COATING PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR FIBER-REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC MEMBER
The purpose of the present disclosure is to provide a pre-coating processing method and a pre-coating processing system (1) for fiber-reinforced thermoplastic member, which can achieve the coating adherence required in the field of aircraft. In a pre-coating processing method according to the present disclosure, a to-be-coated surface of a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic plastic member (2) is subjected to an activation treatment: in which the to-be-coated surface is activated under a condition such that the surface free energy of the to-be-coated surface immediately after the activation treatment reaches at least 70 mJ/m.sup.2; and in which the to-be-coated surface is heated to a temperature at which the modulus of elasticity of the to-be-coated surface becomes lower than that at normal temperature.
METHOD FOR FORMING COATING FILM OF PHOTOCURABLE FLUOROPOLYETHER-BASED ELASTOMER COMPOSITION
Provided is a method for forming a coating film of a photocurable fluoropolyether-based elastomer composition, with which a uniform cured product of the composition can be obtained even in an interface, dark portion and deep portion of a base material without being subjected to a curing inhibition from the base material (resin base material in particular). The method for forming the coating film of the photocurable fluoropolyether-based elastomer composition includes a step of applying a light-irradiated photocurable fluoropolyether-based elastomer composition to a surface of a base material.
