EXTRACTION AND INSERTION IMPLEMENT AND METHOD OF EXTRACTING FOREIGN OBJECT DEBRIS WITHIN CONFINED SPACES
20200154977 · 2020-05-21 ·

An extraction and insertion implement and method of retrieving foreign object debris and inserting fasteners in small spaces providing a rigid rod that is held and manipulated between fingers. A resilient bulbous member joins a distal end of the rod. The bulbous member is resilient to compression for positioning within confined spaces and has a bulbous shape to optimize engagement with FOD and fasteners. An adhesive member detachably encapsulates the bulbous member. The bulbous member can be precisely manipulated from the rod to extract and insert FOD and fasteners in small spaces. The adhesive member comprises an adhesive that binds with FOD and fasteners to extract and insert into the small space. The adhesive member may be removed from the bulbous member so that after use, the contaminated adhesive member can be removed and replaced with a new adhesive member. The implement may be used in medical application and various embodiments may detachable affix to a driver.

Bleach delivery system and method for toilet biofilm disinfection

Cleaning tools for cleaning toilets, particularly the interior of a toilet bowl, where bleach is provided within the cleaning tool itself, e.g., in a disposable, single use cleaning head. The tool may include a handle, a cleaning head attachable to the handle, a nonwoven material having an exterior surface and an interior surface, and a solid cleaning composition stored adjacent to the interior surface of the nonwoven material. The solid cleaning composition includes solid bleach, and may also include a solid surfactant. The cleaning composition may be confined within the nonwoven material (e.g., in a pouch), but upon contact with water, dissolved cleaning composition is able to migrate through the nonwoven material, through a scrubbing layer, and be delivered to the surface being cleaned. Release may achieve at least a 3-log reduction in Staphylococcus aureus within 5 minutes.

In some variations, this invention provides an electro-mechanical device for automated cleaning validation of a selected surface. The device moves a wetted swab over a cleaned surface to recover any remaining soil left over from the cleaning process. The device accepts a standard sampling swab that has been wetted with the required liquid solution. The device maintains constant swab pressure to ensure maximum recovery of soil or contaminants. The device includes an electronic controller for adjusting the movement of parts to effectively validate cleaning of the selected surface. The surface to be validated may be a substantially flat surface, or rounded. The surface may be contained within a vessel, reactor, a pipe, tank, or other equipment. The device may be disposed on an extension arm to allow the device to be positioned appropriately, without the need for a person to be close to the device for validation.
