Contaminant-purging cold chamber die casting apparatus and method
A die casting insert for producing die casted metal parts from liquid metal. The die casting insert has an outer casing shaped to be fixed in the die block of the die casting apparatus. The die casting insert also has a stopper with a purge opening that is adapted to evacuate contaminants topping the liquid metal as pressure is applied to the liquid metal. The stopper, fitted to mate with the hollow inner cavity of the injection sleeve, is constructed to seal the hollow inner cavity of the injection sleeve except at the purge opening when in a first position; and to permit the flow of the liquid metal into at least one molding cavity when the stopper is in a second position. The die casting insert also has an activation mechanism configured to shift the stopper between the first position and the second position.

A method of casting a casting product having tubular flow passages includes: attaching a cast-in pipe insert, having outer and inner fixing members to which both ends of pipes are coupled, respectively, to a fixed mold; assembling a movable mold with the fixed mold; injecting a molten metal into a cavity defined inside the fixed and movable molds; ejecting a casting product from the assembled molds after injecting the molten metal; and removing the outer and inner fixing members from the casting product.

Compared to a conventional molding device, the molding device of the present invention becomes a molding device capable of suppressing the occurrence of a defect on a molded product having an arc-shaped bent inner space at the time of taking out the molded product.

A undercut processing mechanism includes: a sliding piece having a molding core for molding an undercut portion; a holder having a guide for guiding the sliding piece so that a molding core is detached from the undercut portion; and a retaining piece slidably accommodated in the holder and slidably engaged with the sliding piece. One of the holders and the retaining piece can advance/retract relative to the other thereof The retaining piece has a first engagement element and a second engagement element to be engaged with the sliding piece. The sliding piece is guided via the first engagement element and the second engagement element so that the molding core is detached from the undercut portion and moves away from the molded product.

A three-plate pressure die casting mold for producing at least one metallic die casting part by die casting a metal melt, includes first, second and third mold parts and at least one mold cavity as well as a sprue system. In the third mold part there is at least one spring-loaded pressure element which, when opening the die casting mold, presses the sprue produced in the sprue system against the first mold part, whereby the sprue is retained and tears off from the die casting part in a defined manner. A method for operating the die casting machine is provided that includes detecting a downtime event using a controller, determining a length of time between a beginning of the downtime event and an end of the downtime event, determining a number of preheat castings to produce in a preheat cycle, and transmitting a signal instructing the casting mold and the material injection system to produce the number of preheat castings.

A die casting machine includes a plurality of ejector pins capable of advancing and retracting together with respect to the internal portion of a die; an electric motor capable of driving the plurality of ejector pins; a position sensor capable of detecting the positions of the plurality of ejector pins; a force sensor capable of detecting the pressure which is given to the molding material inside the die by the plurality of ejector pins; a display device capable of displaying images, and a control device controlling the electric motor and display device. The control device includes a drive control part which controls the electric motor so as to generate a driving force making the plurality of ejector pins advance to the inside of the die after the start of injection and before die opening, and a display control part which controls the display device so as to display the position detected by a position sensor and the pressure detected by a force sensor along a common time axis.
