An exemplary embodiment includes an instrumented play center. The play center is a rehabilitation device that 1) positively reinforces head lifting during prone (tummy) play in typically developing infants and children with developmental delays; 2) increases opportunities for prone play; and 3) provides early intervention, physical and occupational therapists a rehabilitation device that can be customized to provide the just right challenge promoting prone motor control through interactive play. The play center provides an child with positive reinforcement by activating a toy when the child in prone lifts his/her head over an adjustable threshold.

In some embodiments, a system comprises a mat body characterized by a front side, a back side and a thickness; a plurality of anchors, each anchor comprising an anchor block having an aperture characterized by an aperture diameter, a suction cup having a sealing surface and an outer surface, and a stem that is coaxial with the suction cup and connects the suction cup to the anchor block. Each anchor may be disposed through the thickness, such that its anchor block is on the front side and its suction cup extends from the back side. The system may further comprise an elongated tether that is removably coupleable to one of the plurality of anchors, and the elongated tether may comprise an anchor end having a generally spherical anchor terminus characterized by an anchor diameter that is greater than the aperture diameter.

Apparatus (2) for providing an animated image for a viewer, which apparatus comprises: (i) a device (4, 6, 10, 12) for providing the animated image; and (ii) securing means (14) for securing the apparatus (2) to a part (16) of a structure (18) such that the apparatus (2) is fixed with respect to the structure (18), and such that the device (4, 6, 10, 12) is operable by the viewer in order for the viewer to see the animated image.

An entertainer for a child that is specifically configured and adapted for use in several operational configurations. The entertainer includes a plurality of legs and a tray for supporting a plurality of activity items for the child. A multi-functional plate is attachable to the legs to allow the entertainer to assume a seat support configuration. The multi-functional plate is detachable from the legs and positionable over the tray to allow the entertainer to assume a table top configuration.

The present invention provides a toy for outputting a sound source, comprising: a sound source output unit; a sensor unit for measuring position and motion information of the toy; a communication unit for transmitting, to an electronic device, the position and motion information measured by the sensor unit and receiving, from the electronic device, a sound source and a control command; and a control unit for controlling the sound source output unit to adjust and reproduce the received sound source according to the control command.

A transformable teething toy comprising a first hub and a second hub. Resilient flexible rods connect the first hub to the second hub such that the inner surfaces of the first and second hubs are oriented to face towards each other. The teething toy is further transformable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the first and second hubs are spaced apart from each other by the resilient flexible rods to form an expanded structure. In the closed position, the resilient flexible rods are bent such that the expanded structure is collapsed and the inner surfaces of the first and second hubs are releasably engaged with each other.

Sensory outputs are synchronized to input tempos for providing soothing and other effects for children and other persons. In example embodiments, juvenile products such as rockers and swings have motors that are controlled to produce an oscillatory motion with an adaptive tempo that is synchronized to rhythmic inputs such as a parent's heartbeat. In other example embodiments, juvenile products such as music players are controlled to output signals to play songs via speakers with an adaptive tempo that is synchronized to rhythmic inputs such as an infant's respiratory rate.

A children's toy includes a base having an upper portion and a lower portion and a driving mechanism operably connected to the lower portion of the base. The driving mechanism is configured to move the base along a plurality of paths. One or more lights operably connected to the base are configured to display a patterned light display as the base moves along one of a plurality of paths. This apparatus can also be used as a general purpose fastener for fastening two or more objects together, hanging objects from a bar. Such general purpose fastener can be used as a toy, strap of a watch, or bracelet as well.
