ARC WELDING METHOD AND ARC WELDING DEVICE
20190270156 · 2019-09-05 ·

An arc welding method alternately generates a short-circuit state and an arc state. In the method, short circuits are generated also in the arc period. This more than doubles the total number of short circuits, which is the sum of the short circuits generated in the short circuit period and those generated in the arc period. This enables a thin plate to be arc welded at a higher speed, while reducing its burn-through.

A power source applies an AC voltage between a welding torch and a workpiece. The power source includes an inverter circuit to switch between a positive polarity and an opposite polarity, a restriking circuit to apply a restriking voltage to an output of the inverter circuit when the positive polarity is switched to the opposite polarity, and a control circuit to control the restriking circuit. The restriking circuit includes a restriking capacitor to be charged with the restriking voltage, a charging circuit to charge the restriking capacitor with the restriking voltage, and a discharging circuit to discharge the restriking voltage in the restriking capacitor. The control circuit causes the charging circuit to start charging at a time of the opposite polarity, and to end charging after the opposite polarity is switched to the positive polarity.

ARC WELDING CONTROL METHOD

In thin sheet welding, when a heat input amount relative to a sheet thickness is too large, a welding defect such as a deviation from aim due to occurrence of a strain or burn through may easily occur. When a welding current is decreased to reduce the heat input amount, there is an issue in which an arc tends to become unstable. In arc welding that repeats short-circuit and arcing, first heat input period (Th) and second heat input period (Tc) having a heat input amount less than that of first heat input period (Th) are periodically repeated. This reduces the heat input amount into a welding object and suppresses burn through and a strain upon welding while making the arc stable.

There is provided an arc welding control method of alternating feeding of a welding wire between forward feeding and reverse feeding periodically to generate a short-circuiting period and an arc period in a manner that shifting to the arc period is performed by reducing a welding current in the reverse feeding during the short-circuiting period. Reduction of the welding current is started from a time where a state of the reverse feeding reaches a predetermined reference state.

Systems and methods providing low current regulation for AC arc welding processes

Systems and methods providing low current regulation for AC arc welding processes to regulate arc welding performance. In arc welding power source embodiments, configurations of bridge and arc regulation circuits allow for the directional switching of the welding output current through the welding output circuit path and induce a voltage between the electrode and the workpiece of the welding output circuit path that is sufficient to re-ignite the arc during polarity transition of the output current. The arc regulation circuit provides a high inductance level for storing energy, in both polarities, which induces the voltage level for re-igniting the arc during the zero crossing of the output current and provides low end stabilization of arc current.
