Methods of making abrasive articles and bonded abrasive wheel preparable thereby

Methods of making abrasive articles involve adhering shaped abrasive particles to a reinforcing member according to a predetermined pattern and optionally orientation, and depositing a space-filling binder precursor on the reinforcing member and shaped abrasive particles to provide a filled abrasive preform, disposing another reinforcing member onto the filled abrasive preform, and curing the abrasive article precursor to form the abrasive articles. In some aspects, multiple abrasive preforms are stacked on each other. Bonded abrasive wheels preparable according to the methods are also disclosed.

An elastic TPU polishing composite membrane includes a TPU adhesive film layer, an abrasive layer and a lubricant anti-static coating layer, wherein the TPU adhesive film layer is overlappedly adhered to one surface of the abrasive layer and the lubricant anti-static coating layer is evenly coated on other surface of the abrasive layer.

Printed abrasive article

A flexible abrasive article is provided with a first, non-tacky base layer having opposed first and second major surfaces. An ink layer is disposed on the first major surface of the first base layer, while a second, thermoplastic base layer is disposed on the ink layer whereby the ink layer is located between the first and second base layers. Disposed on the second base layer is an abrasive layer such that the second base layer is located between the abrasive layer and the ink layer. Compared with conventional printed flexible adhesive articles, the provided articles improved robustness while avoiding manufacturing difficulties related to flexographic printing onto abrasive coated articles.

Abrasive tools and methods for forming same

An abrasive tool can include a bonded abrasive including a body and a barrier layer bonded to a major surface of the body. The body can include abrasive particles contained within a bond material. The barrier material can include a polymer including a biaxially-oriented material. In an embodiment, the barrier layer may include a polymer-containing film as an exterior surface of the abrasive tool. The abrasive tool may be formed such that the barrier layer is formed in-situ with the formation of the bonded abrasive.

ABRASIVE ARTICLE AND A PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF

The present invention relates to abrasive articles, more specifically to coated abrasive article with non-woven backing and a method of their preparation.

ABRASIVE ARTICLES AND RELATED METHODS

Provided are abrasive articles that include a plurality of layers, in the following order: a backing; an abrasive layer; and a supersize coat. The supersize coat contains a metal salt of a long-chain fatty acid and clay particles dispersed therein. Advantageously, the clay particles enhance the optical clarity of the supersize coat, allowing printed abrasive articles to be made with thicker supersize coatings. The addition of clay was also found to improve cut performance of the abrasive article relative to articles in which the clay particles are absent.

ABRASIVE ARTICLE

An abrasive article is provided which comprises a plurality of layers in the following order: a backing; an abrasive layer; a primer layer comprising clay particles, wherein the clay particles are agglomerated and form a layer; and a supersize coat comprising a metal salt of a long-chain fatty acid. The addition of the aforementioned primer layer can significantly reduce loading of swarf and improve both the cut and expected lifetime of the abrasive article.

The present invention relates generally to coated abrasive articles that include active filler particles in a supersize coat, a make coat, or combinations thereof, as well as methods of making and using said coated abrasive articles.

Rigid backsize to prevent fiber disc curling

Systems and methods include providing a coated abrasive article with a substrate formed from a plurality of hygroscopic fibers, an abrasive layer comprising a make coat, a size coat, a supersize coat, or combinations thereof disposed on a first side of substrate, and an anti-curl layer disposed on a second side of the substrate. The polymer-based anti-curl layer allows the coated abrasive article to achieve a change in curl between ?5 millimeters and 25 millimeters, the change in curl being expressed as the curl of the coated abrasive article in millimeters at 90% relative humidity minus the curl of the coated abrasive article in millimeters at 20% relative humidity. The coated abrasive article exhibits substantially no loss of grinding performance, burst speed, or a combination thereof as compared to coated abrasive articles free of the anti-curl layer.

Method to provide an abrasive product and abrasive products thereof

The invention relates to obtaining an abrasive product comprising a backing layer and an abrasive layer, wherein the backing layer comprises propylene homopolymer or copolymer.
