Clamp designs with integrated features and methods relating thereto
12134172 · 2024-11-05 · ·

Clamp designs and methods relating thereto for working on one or more of workpieces are described. An exemplar clamp design includes a unitary u-shaped frame having a bight portion flanked by multiple jaw portions, all of which are designed to secure one or more workpieces (e.g., cabinet face frame). The u-shaped frame, at any of its portions, has disposed thereon at least one work window that provides access to one or more secured workpieces. Further, one exemplar clamp design provides a work guide element rotatably coupled to the u-shaped frame, disposed adjacent to the work window, and having defined therein a guide aperture. In, one rotated, work position of the work guide, the guide aperture allows a tool to access and/or work, through the guide aperture and the work window, on a desired location on the workpiece.

Spark plug gapping tool

The spark plug gapping tool comprises a clamp that provides a spark plug holder on a lower arm that is vertically aligned with a threaded shaft and a pressing foot on an upper arm. An inverted spark plug may be installed into the spark plug gapping tool from the bottom side of the lower arm. A mounting clip on the clamp allows a gap gauge to be removably coupled to the clamp and the gap gauge provides a calibrated arm of a specific thickness, which the spark plug gap is to match. A handle on the threaded shaft allows the threaded shaft to be turned, causing the threaded shaft to move up and down within a threaded shaft hole. Downward movement of the pressing foot against an electrode of the spark plug bends the electrode and sets the spark plug gap.

COMPACT SUPPORT CLAMP WITH SPRING ASSEMBLY

A clamp for mounting a structure on a support. The clamp includes a fixed jaw, a base, and a moveable thruster plate between the fixed jaw and the base. The clamp includes a thruster cylinder configured to be rotateably received through the clamp body and having threads that engage a screw so that when the thruster cylinder rotates, the screw is advanced or retracted to move the thruster plate into and out of engagement with the support. A knob is used to rotate the thruster cylinder. The base includes an annular opening for storing a spring and receiving the screw and the thruster cylinder. The clamp is configured so that when the thruster plate engages the support, further axial movement of the screw is prevented and further rotation of the knob and thruster cylinder compresses the spring thereby causing the thruster plate to apply additional force to the support.

Clamp assembly using pins

A clamp assembly that may be used for securing to a raised portion of a surface. The clamp assembly comprising a mounting body of a general block shape having a slot for receiving the raised portion formed in a bottom surface of the mounting body attaching the clamp assembly thereto. The clamp assembly is configured with one or more pins that may be formed in a substantially elongated cylindrical shape. The pins may be configured to be received in one or more push-pin holes formed in the mounting body, whereby the push-pin holes extend to the slot from a side surface of push-pin holes. The clamp assembly includes a fastening element adapted to be received in a fastener hole formed adjacent the push-pin holes in the side surface of the mounting body. The fastening element is configured to secure, attach and hold the clamp assembly to the standing seam by forcing the pins against the raised portion of the surface disposed in the slot.

Cooling clamp

A cooling clamp is operable to hold coolant and an item in proximity to one another and includes a pair of relatively shiftable jaws and a receptacle mounted to at least one of the jaws. The jaws are shiftable into and out of a closed position, with the jaws being configured to receive at least a portion of the item therebetween and apply a clamping pressure to the item when in the closed position. The receptacle is mounted to at least one of the jaws and presents a chamber to receive the coolant. The receptacle includes an exposed wall section that defines in part the chamber and is configured to contact the item when the jaws are in the closed position, with the exposed wall section thereby serving as a direct thermal conductor between the item and the coolant.

Clamping device for precision tools

The present invention relates to a clamping device, and more specifically to a clamping device for precision instruments. It comprises first and second clamping jaws that are secured against a work surface by forces applied in opposite directions via a shank member and locking nut working along integrated first and second threaded bores. The clamping device provides superior rigidity in applications involving the stability of precision instruments.

Log vice

A log vice providing a partially disassembable stand alone log vice and a trailer hitch attachable log vice that have an upper support member that telescopically engages the upright member, a pair of V-shaped upper and lower vice arms with teeth attached to the outer ends of the respective upper and lower vice arms such that the vice arm teeth approach and retract from each other in accommodating the various diameter logs, and a pair of separate braces adding structural integrity to the upright member and the lower vice arm. The trailer hitch log vice also includes a hollow lower horizontal member removably attachable to a vehicle receiver hitch, while the stand alone log vice has a support stand member.

In the use of devices and methods for measuring applied pressure on an article, such as a patella construct during a surgical procedure, differently sized and configured clamp bushing adapters can be interchangeably employed with, and removably secured to, a clamp stem to adapt to the relative sizes of objects being clamped. Embodiments of an installation cap can also be provided to assist with proper setup and operation by, for example, removably covering spike elements associated with a working surface of embodiments of the device.

TOOL FOR TORSION BAR REPAIR
20170144284 · 2017-05-25 ·

A method and tool assembly (10) for unloading and reloading spring energy from a torsion bar (11) in a torsion bar suspension system of a motor vehicle. The tool assembly (10) includes a generally C-shaped body (14) having a screw shall (24) threaded through a boss (22) in a lower section (18) thereof. An anti-rotation stem (38) includes a knurled flat face (40) which increases versatility of the tool assembly (10) by enabling anti-slip operation with various vehicle types. A counter-torque tool perch (46) extends from the lower section (18) of the tool body (14) for applying a counter-rotational torque to the body (14) during use of the tool assembly (10).

CLAMP ASSEMBLY USING PINS
