TOOL WITH CHARGE ADVANCE MECHANISM

A powder actuated fastening tool including a charge advance apparatus for advancing a powder charge strip relative to a barrel of the tool, wherein the charge advance apparatus includes a rotatable ratchet having teeth for engaging receptacles formed in the powder charge strip, and a charge advance member coupled to a trigger of the tool, wherein the charge advance member acts on the rotatable ratchet to rotate the ratchet in response to actuation and/or release of the trigger, such that the rotation of the ratchet causes advance of the powder charge strip relative to the barrel.

POWERED FASTENER DRIVER

A fastener driver includes a housing defining a head portion and a handle portion, a drive mechanism positioned within the housing, and a firing mechanism. The firing mechanism includes a primary guide member supported within the head portion of the housing, a secondary guide member spaced from the primary guide member and supported within the head portion of the housing, a piston slidable along the primary guide member and the secondary guide member, a driver blade attached to the piston and configured to be movable along a drive axis, and a biasing member configured to move the piston and the driver blade from a top dead center (TDC) position toward a bottom dead center (BDC) position. A lifter assembly is operated by the drive mechanism to return the piston and the driver blade towards the TDC position, against the bias of the biasing member.

Adapter for combustion tool fuel cells

An adapter is provided for use in combination with a fuel cell having a closure formation. The adapter includes a fuel cell closure ring configured for engagement upon the closure formation of the fuel cell and including a top edge, a bottom edge, and a sidewall therebetween having an inner sidewall surface and an outer sidewall surface. At least one groove is defined by the inner sidewall and has at least one primary recess in communication with the at least one groove. At least one secondary recess is in communication with the groove. A metering valve has a body and at least one depending leg with a radially extending foot formation configured for engaging the groove. At least one supplemental locking lug is located on the leg and is constructed and arranged for engaging the at least one secondary recess.

Adapter for combustion tool fuel cells

An adapter is provided for use in combination with a fuel cell having a closure formation. A compliant tip member for a fastening tool that includes a body having compressible and protective properties includes a forward section, a rearward section longitudinally opposite to the forward section and lateral sides connecting the forward and rearward sections. The compressible feature is in the form of a compression portion that forms at least a portion of the forward section. The compliant tip member forward section is compressible relative to the rearward section due to projections, such as wings or lobes that deform when the forward section is pressed against a workpiece by the nose of the fastening tool. The compliant tip member includes a recess within a surface between the forward section and the rearward section. The recess is shaped to receive the nosepiece of the fastening tool.
