A tool includes a housing, a blade receptacle within the housing configured to receive a removable saw blade having a lock engaging region, and a blade release actuator adjacent to the blade receptacle, the blade release actuator being rotatable about an axis associated therewith and configured to selectively move a lock member into the lock engaging region. The blade release actuator comprises a ramp on which the lock member rests. Rotation of the blade release actuator rotates the ramp under the lock member from a blade locked position where the lock member is pushed by the ramp into the lock engaging region of the removable saw blade to a blade release position where the ramp is rotated to create a gap between the lock engaging region and the blade release actuator such that the saw blade is removable from the tool.

FOLDABLE SAW

A foldable saw is provided in which a latch mechanism for latching and securing a freely foldable saw blade body in its use position can be produced and assembled very easily with a minimum number of components on the basis of an idea different from the conventional ideas and that exerts a favorable latching effect. The foldable saw 1 includes, on a saw handle body 20, a latch body 10 made of spring wire and including a coil section 11, a stop pin section 12, a latch section 13, and an operation section 15. The saw handle body 20 includes at least a seating recess 23, a pin hole 24, and a receiving groove 22. The latch body 10 is configured, in the state of being attached to the saw handle body 20, such that the latch section 13 located in front of the coil section 11 enters into the receiving groove 22 by spring bias, and that the latch section 13 retreats against the spring bias in response to an operation of the operation section 15 located in the rear of the coil section 11.

Automatically opening tool with sliding scale release

An automatically opening tool with a sliding scale release. The assembly includes a modular body; a tool; a gear assembly attached to the tool; a first resilient member for rotating the tool; a sear configured to mate with the gear assembly; a second resilient member for imparting a resilient force to the sear; and cover plates. When the tool is closed, moving the cover plate causes the tool to open automatically.

FOLDING KNIFE WITH LOCKING MECHANISM

Folding knife embodiments are disclosed herein comprising a blade operable to pivot relative to a handle, between an open position and a closed position, about a pivot axis extending through a tang portion of the blade having at least one locking recess. The knife can have a locking mechanism comprising a rod that extends along the pivot axis through the tang portion and a locking member coupled to the rod which engages the at least one locking recess of the tang portion when the blade is in at least one of the open position or the closed position. The knife can further comprise a push button coupled to the rod, wherein depression of the push button is configured to eject the locking member from the locking recess in the blade, thereby unlocking the blade.

SWITCHBLADES

Switchblades are disclosed herein. A switchblade includes a handle body, a blade pivotally coupled to the handle body, and a release mechanism for pivoting the blade about a blade pivot axis to transition the blade from a folded position to a deployed position. The release mechanism includes a release spring, a sear, and an actuator. The release spring is configured to transition from a retained configuration to a released configuration to drive the blade from the folded position to the deployed position. The sear is configured to retain the release spring in the retained configuration while the sear is in a retaining position. The actuator includes an actuator arm that is configured to move relative to a portion of the handle body to transition the sear from the retaining position to a releasing position.

FOLDING KNIFE WITH LOCKING LINKAGE ASSEMBLY

In one representative embodiment, a folding knife comprises a blade having a tang portion, a first linking element, a second linking element, and a handle. The blade can be translatable between a storage position and a use position. The first linking element can be pivotably coupled to the tang portion at a first pivot axis and the second linking element can be pivotably coupled to the tang portion at a second pivot axis. The handle can be pivotably coupled to the first and second linking elements at third and fourth pivot axes, respectively. The handle can have a first locking surface configured to resist movement of the blade in a first direction and a second locking surface configured to resist movement of the blade in an opposing second direction.

VERTICALLY ORIENTED CURVED LINER SPRING FOR KNIFE HANDLE

A liner for a folding knife includes a curved elongated spring to bias a blade of the knife to an open or closed position. The spring may extend in an arc from an origination point to a free end, within a cutout region of a body of the liner. The spring may be J-shaped in one approach. The spring may be integrally formed with the liner or formed as a separate piece which is attached to the liner. The free end may include a shoe to contact a lock stud in a handle of the knife. The origination point may be below and frontward of the shoe. The spring biases the lock stud frontward to lock the blade in the open position. To close the blade, the user moves the lock stud rearward, against a spring force of the spring, allowing the blade to rotate to the closed position.
