Folding knife with safety mechanisms
A folding knife includes a blade mounted for pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position. The knife includes a locking assembly having a cam mounted for pivotal movement between a raised position, in which the locking assembly is in an unlocked configuration allowing pivotal movement of the blade, and a lowered position, in which the locking assembly is in a locked configuration preventing pivotal movement of the blade. The knife includes a projection on the blade moveable between a collapsed position, allowing pivotal movement of the blade, and a raised position, preventing pivotal movement of the blade. The knife includes a bolt locking assembly for locking and unlocking the blade, and a cap over the bolt locking assembly preventing the bolt locking assembly from unlocking the blade.
LOCKING FOLDING KNIFE AND KNIFE LOCK MECHANISM
Various embodiments of a folding knife are disclosed. In one embodiment, the folding knife includes a handle, a blade including a tip and a tang with the tang having a tang block engagement element, an axle pivotably connecting the blade to the handle, and a lock mechanism. The lock mechanism includes a locking block constrained to move along a fore-aft linear axis, the locking block including a lower engagement surface, an upper engagement surface, and a rear surface. The lock mechanism also includes a biasing device carrier pivotably connected to the handle, a biasing device oriented between the biasing device carrier and the rear surface of the locking block and the biasing device configured to bias the locking block toward the blade tip when the blade is in an open orientation, and at least one handle block engagement element oriented above the upper engagement surface of the locking block.
FOLDING KNIFE
A folding knife has a blade pivotably mounted between a first handle scale and a second handle scale and attached to a first pivot post and a second pivot post. A locking mechanism is slidably mounted in the first handle scale and is spring biased into contact with the first pivot post. The locking mechanism is spring biased into contact with a first groove on the first pivot post when the blade is in a closed position thereby preventing the blade from pivoting to the open position, and the locking mechanism is spring biased into contact with a second groove on the first pivot post when the blade is in an open position thereby preventing the blade from pivoting to the closed position.
Double-sided ball slide knife blade locking mechanism
A knife having a double-sided ball slide knife blade locking mechanism includes a blade pivotally attached to a handle, the blade having a pair of large circular indentations formed on opposite lateral sides of the blade, and also having a pair of small circular indentations formed on opposite lateral sides of the blade. The knife handle has handle scales attached to opposite sides of the knife blade. Each of a pair of detent elements are positioned intermediate the handle scales and knife blade on both sides of the blade, and positioned such that the detent elements will mate with the indentations. Each of a pair of spring-loaded sliding detent release shafts are mounted within the handle scales and have a tapered interior side configured to wedge between the detent element and a detent housing cover to temporarily lock the detent elements in place within the indentations.
UTILITY TOOL
A utility tool with at least one blade that is capable of being disposed at least partially within the body of the utility tool. The at least one blade may swivel around an access of rotation and engage with a locking mechanism to keep the blade secure when in use and secure in the body when in a closed position.
Folding knife
This disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus for a locking folding knife having a handle lock and a safety switch arranged around and rotatable around a pivot axis of the knife. In an engaged position the switch overlaps at least a portion of the handle lock and prevents it from moving into an unlocked position. A spring, such as a wire form spring, can be arranged within a pocket of the switch, and when the switch is moved between engaged and disengaged positions the spring can be compressed generating a rotational bias on the switch urging the switch toward either the engaged or disengaged position.
Safety for assist opening knife
A folding tool with a safety lock mechanism. The tool has a handle having a first handle half and a second handle half and an implement pivotally connected between the handle halves by a pivot pin. The implement is movable between an open position and closed position. The safety lock mechanism includes a safety switch positioned between the first handle half and the second handle half and having two wing portions extending laterally from a central portion movable from a first safety on position to a second safety off position. The two wing portions configured to slide within wing grooves of the first handle half and the second handle half. The tang portion of the blade includes a scalloped pocket and/or protruding portion in the tang that is configured to contain the front end of the safety switch when the safety switch is in the first safety on position.
Folding knife with blade lock
A folding knife has an elongated blade having a pivot end and an opposed free end, the pivot end of the blade pivotally connected to a handle, the blade being movable between a closed position in which the blade is protectively received by the handle and an open position in which the blade extends away from the handle, a back lock element pivotally connected to the handle and having a block portion, the back lock element movable between a locked position in which the block portion operably contacts a portion of the pivot end of the blade to prevent movement of the blade from the open position to the closed position, and an unlocked position in which movement of the blade from the open position to the closed position is enabled, and a safety element movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position.
FOLDING KNIFE
A folding knife including a handle with a liner block with two parallel liners, defining a storage space between them. A blade pivotably mounted on the liner block with a pivoting axis engaged through the base of the blade and mounted on the liner block so that the blade can pivot between an inactive position, in which the blade is received in the storage space in the liner block, and an active position, in which the blade extends in line with the handle. A blade lock capable of blocking the blade in the active position.
