PROCESS FOR RECOVERING ORGANICS FROM MATERIAL RECOVERY FACILITY FINES
20200101506 · 2020-04-02 ·

A system and process for separating organic material from solid waste such as material recovery facility (MRF) fines is disclosed. The fines are treated in a press, in which the fines are compressed against a wall having a set of holes. The fines are mixed with a substantial amount of water before being pressed. The water increases the amount of organic matter that is recovered from the fines. A wet fraction, extruded through the holes of the press, may be treated in an anaerobic digester.

A method for manufacturing a water absorption treatment material made of a plurality of grains includes a preparing step, a pulverizing step, a core portion forming step, and a coating portion forming step. The preparing step is a step of preparing a paper powder to which water-absorbent polymers adhere, the paper powder being derived from a sanitary product. The pulverizing step is a step of pulverizing remaining polymers using a pulverizer. The core portion forming step is a step of forming a core portion constituting each of the grains The coating portion forming step is a step of forming a coating portion so as to cover the core portion, the coating portion containing the paper powder, and the remaining polymers pulverized in the pulverizing step. In the pulverizing step, the remaining polymers left in a state of adhering to the paper powder are subjected to the pulverizer.

METHOD OF RECYCLING REINFORCING FIBER

The present embodiment is a method of recycling reinforcing fibers, the method comprising: providing a tank having at least a first protective layer disposed on an outer peripheral surface of a liner and a liner, the first protective layer being configured such that a resin-impregnated fiber bundle including a reinforcing fiber bundle and a first matrix resin is wound around the liner; and a second protective layer formed of the first matrix resin on the first protective layer; removing a portion of the second protective layer to expose a winding end portion of the resin-impregnated fiber bundle; peeling the exposed winding end portion; and pulling the peeled winding end portion to draw out the resin-impregnated fiber bundle.

A tire dismantling method is provided that is capable of dismantling a reinforcing member from a tire in which a thermoplastic material and the reinforcing member are an integral unit. The dismantling method is of a tire including a tire frame member formed of a thermoplastic resin, and a reinforcing member laid up at a tire radial direction outside of the tire frame member and formed of a material with a higher rigidity than the tire frame member. The tire dismantling method includes an opening-out process of cutting the tire along a width direction to make the tire into a belt shape, and a reinforcing member separation process of crushing the belt shaped tire to separate the tire frame member and the reinforcing member.

Separation of multi-layered material to facilitate recycling

A method of separating constituent layers from a paper-plastic laminate material includes disposing a sheet of a paper-plastic laminate material on a first surface. The paper-plastic laminate material includes a paper layer on a first side and a plastic layer on a second side. The method also includes moving an abrasive second surface over the paper layer on the first side to contact the paper layer and separate portions of the paper layer from the plastic layer. The method further includes collecting the separated portions of the paper layer and providing the separated portions of the paper layer as input to a paper recycling process, and collecting the plastic layer and providing the plastic layer as input to a plastic recycling process. The method may help increase recycling rates of paper and plastic, reduce raw material harvesting, reduce pollution and habitat destruction, and improve the quality of recycled material.

Apparatus for facilitating peeling of lined containers

The disclosure relates to an apparatus for securely (and preferably reversibly) holding a container having a concave interior portion while a liner that abuts the concave interior portion 5 is removed from the container by peeling it therefrom. The apparatus includes a container holder having one or more holding surfaces, such as the interior of an orifice that extends through it. A holding surface (e.g., an O-ring or ridge) secures the container temporarily and reversibly, and prevents the container from disengaging from the container holder during peeling of the liner. An optional deflector can deflect a tab portion of the liner to facilitate its 10 removal from the container. After the liner is removed, the remaining portion of the container can be removed from the apparatus (e.g., and recycled).
