Polyethylenes and processes for producing polyethylenes
The present disclosure provides processes for producing polyethylene resins. In at least one embodiment, a polyethylene has: a density of from about 0.91 g/cm.sup.3 to about 0.94 g/cm.sup.3; a value of Mz of about 1,500,000 g/mol or greater; and a ratio of Mz to Mw of about 7 or greater. A process includes introducing a first feed stream having ethylene monomer and a first free radical initiator to a first inlet of a first reaction zone, where the first reaction zone has a first inlet temperature. The process further includes introducing a second feed stream having ethylene monomer and a second free radical initiator to a second inlet of a second reaction zone, where the second reaction zone has a second inlet temperature that is the same or different than the first inlet temperature.
Bioactive components conjugated to substrates of microneedle arrays
Microneedle arrays and methods of forming the same can include one or more bioactive components bonded to a biocompatible material such that the one or more bioactive components are cleavable in vivo to release the bioactive component from the biocompatible material.
Implantable sensor element
The invention relates to a sensor element for detecting at least one analyte in a body fluid or in a body tissue, particularly for determining at least one metabolite concentration in a body fluid. The sensor element comprises an implantable, one-piece shaped body, which comprises a sensor end and a coupling end. The shaped body comprises, in the area of the sensor end, at least one sensor area, which comprises at least one sensor material. The sensor material changes at least one optically measurable property in the presence of the analyte. The shaped body also has at least one optically transparent coupling part, which is designed to transmit electromagnetic radiation in at least one spectral range between the sensor area and the coupling end. In the sensor area, the shaped body has at least one optically transparent matrix material, and the analyte can at least partially diffuse through the matrix material to the sensor material. The sensor material is embedded in the matrix material. The coupling part is formed at least partially by the matrix material.
Composite material and method for preparing composite material
Provided is a complex material that includes a first metal deposition layer, a first thermosetting resin layer positioned on one side of the first metal deposition layer, and a second thermosetting resin layer positioned on the other side of the first metal deposition layer.
BATTERY SEPARATOR WITH RIBS AND A METHOD OF CASTING THE RIBS ON THE SEPARATOR
The present disclosure provides a method of casting ribs on substrate, said method comprising acts of, mounting applicator comprising plurality of nozzles and polymer filled into the applicator, placing the substrate below the nozzles of the applicator, applying pressure onto the melt polymer to cast plurality of polymer ribs of predetermined shape on the substrate, and cooling the substrate casted with ribs.
Hybrid organic-inorganic micromirror device and method of making a hybrid microdevice
A hybrid organic-inorganic micromirror device includes a micromirror comprising an inorganic material positioned above an elastomeric substrate. The micromirror is supported on an underside thereof by a conductive elastomeric support protruding from the elastomeric substrate. The conductive elastomeric support may function as a universal joint and is rendered electrically conductive by an electrically conductive coating thereon. A plurality of electrodes are disposed on the elastomeric substrate under the micromirror. The electrodes are spaced apart from each other and from the micromirror and are arranged around the conductive elastomeric support. Each electrode comprises an inorganic material and is in electrical contact with an elastomeric contact region protruding from the elastomeric substrate. When a voltage bias is applied between the micromirror and one or more of the electrodes, the micromirror is electrostatically actuated to move in a predetermined direction.
Biodegradable ocular implant
Provided is a biodegradable ocular implant for sustained drug delivery, including a first layer comprising a first biodegradable polymer, wherein the first layer contains a drug dispersed or dissolved therein. A multi-layered biodegradable ocular implant is also disclosed.
HUMAN TISSUE MODELS, MATERIALS, AND METHODS
Devices, systems, and methods appropriate for use in medical training that include materials that better mimic natural human tissue are disclosed. In one aspect, multi-layer tissue simulations are provided. In another aspect, male genitalia models are provided. In another aspect, abdominal surgical wall inserts are provided. Systems and methods associated with these devices are also provided.
Flexible Endoscope and Methods of Making Same
An endoscope includes a handle connected to a flexible, steerable, kink-resistant insertion tube. An endoscope insertion tube may include a shaft, a lower durometer section proximate to a distal end of the shaft, and a higher durometer section positioned between the lower durometer section and a medium durometer section. The endoscope insertion tube may further include a fourth thermoplastic laminate section proximate to a proximal end of the shaft and having a higher durometer. A method of making an endoscope insertion tube may include inserting a mandrel with one, two, or more lateral slots and a liner into a shaft, wherein the liner is positioned between the mandrel and the shaft, bonding a bonded portion of the liner to an inner surface of the shaft, separating other portion(s) of the liner from the shaft, and inserting a first deflection wire in a gap between the shaft and the unbonded portion(s) of the liner.
