Planter for rhizomes and the like

An apparatus for planting rhizomes includes a chassis having wheels to move in a primary direction over an area in which rhizomes are to be planted, the primary direction defining a forward and aft sense, a hopper on the chassis holds rhizomes to be planted, the hopper having a live bottom mounted to move rhizomes in the forward direction, a kickback bar at a forward side of the hopper lifts rhizomes at a forward face of the hopper, a leveling roller above the live bottom levels the height of rhizomes transported by the live bottom forward of the hopper, a barrel feed at a forward end of the live bottom to pull rhizomes from the live bottom, a accumulator below the barrel feed, a drop zone below the accumulator, and a chute with inner flaps from the drop zone oriented to deposit rhizomes in a furrow.

Agricultural devices, systems, and methods for determining soil and seed characteristics and analyzing the same

Agricultural seed planting systems are provided. In some aspects, the system includes a processing unit, a frame, a furrow opener coupled to the frame for opening a furrow in soil, and a sensor in communication with the processing unit and adapted to sense a characteristic associated with seed planting. The sensor may generate a signal associated with the sensed characteristic and the processing unit may receive the signal. In some aspects, the sensed characteristic may be either a soil characteristic or a seed characteristic. Information associated with the sensed characteristic can be saved in memory for future use and to assist with more effective planting in the future.

IMPROVEMENTS TO OPENERS FOR SEEDERS

Openers for a seeder, configured to be adjustably engaged with a soil surface when in use; each opener having compliance to vertical and lateral excessive forces independently applied to soil-engaging parts: a fertiliser tine, a seed tine, a press wheel, a coulter, and a support wheel. The openers share a hydraulic circuit, linked to each internal frame-lifting ram so that localised rise and fall effects arising from soil surface irregularities are shared, maintaining a mean height. The seed tine of each opener is made liftable immediately the preceding fertiliser tine is displaced. The openers do not require external weight support.

REMOTE ADJUSTMENT OF A ROW UNIT OF AN AGRICULTURAL DEVICE

Agricultural devices, row unit adjustment systems, and methods of adjusting a depth of a furrow are provided. In some aspects, an agricultural device is adapted to plant seeds and includes a frame, a furrow opener coupled to the frame and adapted to cut a furrow including a depth, a sensor adapted to sense a characteristic associated with planting seeds and generate a signal associated with the sensed characteristic, and a processing unit receiving the signal associated with the sensed characteristic. The depth of the furrow is adjustable based on the signal associated with the sensed characteristic. Such characteristic may be a characteristic of the soil, a force applied to the agricultural device, or a position of a portion of the agricultural device.

Agricultural inter-seeder rotor

A system for planting cover crop seeds in fields with standing row crops, including a high-clearance agricultural vehicle with a high-clearance toolbar, soil sealers, and a seeder with a reciprocator above the soil sealers to deliver various types of seeds onto the disrupted soil after which the soil sealers cover the seeds with soil.

FERTILIZER KNIFE
20170215335 · 2017-08-03 ·

A fertilizer knife for applying fertilizer to soil. The fertilizer knife includes a knife body having a primary chamber through a rearward end thereof. Fins diverge laterally outwardly from a tip at a lower forward end of the knife body and curve upwardly from the lower forward end, terminating above a discharge end of the primary chamber. Liquid from a liquid source is communicated to the primary chamber and is discharged from the discharge end into the furrow formed by the fertilizer knife. In another embodiment, a secondary passage through the knife body communicates gas from a gas supply into a gap surrounding a supply tube disposed within the primary chamber. In another embodiment flow controllers disposed on the knife regulate liquid into the primary chamber and gas into the secondary passage.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for providing down force for an agricultural implement

An agricultural planter includes systems, methods, and apparatus for providing down force pressure at row units of the planter. The row units may include an electric linear actuator connected to linkages of the row units to provide and maintain a down force pressure for the row unit. The linkage may also be removed and replaced with a strut or like mechanism to apply a direct down force pressure to components of the row unit. One or more sensors can be included to obtain information related to the ground to automatically adjust the amount of down force provided based upon a ground characteristic in order to maintain a substantially uniform furrow depth.

ROW UNIT FOR A DOUBLE-SHOOT DRILL USING TWO STAGGERED DISCS

A double-shoot disc-opener row unit for use with agricultural implements includes two discs that form two separate trenches in a planting surface of a field. The mechanical connection between the two discs provides an adjustable longitudinal separation between the discs to prevent an overlap between the discs from a point view perpendicular to the direction of travel of the row unit. The longitudinal separation may reduce the interference of the flow of soil from one disc from interfering with the formations of trenches by the other disc. An adjustable lateral separation between the discs may also provide for a separation between the trenches produced by the different discs.

SEEDING TOOL

A plough assembly (10) to be drawn by a plough frame that is attached to a prime mover. The assembly (10) includes a digging shank (14) attached to a clamp (11) that is to be attached to the plough frame. Attached to the lower end of the shank (14) is a digging assembly (21). The digging assembly (21) includes a mounting (22) and a digging blade (23). Behind the digging blade (23) is a twin road seeding boot (76). Following the boot (76) is a press wheel (68), with the seeding boot (76) having a transverse width greater than the transverse width of the blade (23).
