Examples of an imaging system for use with a head mounted display (HMD) are disclosed. The imaging system can include a forward-facing imaging camera and a surface of a display of the HMD can include an off-axis diffractive optical element (DOE) or hot minor configured to reflect light to the imaging camera. The DOE or hot minor can be segmented, for example, with different segments having different angles or different optical power. The imaging system can be used for eye tracking, biometric identification, multiscopic reconstruction of the three-dimensional shape of the eye, etc. Methods for manufacturing angularly segmented optical elements are also provided. The methods can include injection molding.

A thermoplastic elastomeric material is injected into the mold cavity to form a corner mold covering the body ends and the foot portion of the locator device with the corner mold defining a second reference point. The corner mold bonds the first body end, the second body end, and the locator device together to fix the locator device to the first body end at a locator position such that a predetermined distance between the reference points is maintained during injecting of the thermoplastic elastomeric material.

Positioning of the insert member is performed by engaging the positioning tab with the notch. With this configuration, in molding a plastic lens having an insert member by injection molding including insert molding, positioning of the insert member is performed at the gate position without deteriorating the quality of a molded product and without increasing the load of post-processing after molding.
