DEVICE FOR PROVIDING A TUBULAR FOIL
A device for providing a tubular foil comprises a frame (5) with a position for an active product holder (P4) from which the tubular foil (10) can be removed and at least one further position (P1-P5) for at least one subsequent product holder with a subsequent tubular foil (20). The device provides coupling means for attaching a leading end (25) of the subsequent tubular foil (20) to a tail end (15) of a spent tubular foil (10). The coupling means comprise a carriage (110) with a drivable applicator device (100). The applicator device comprises a set of opposite applicator members (130) with mutually facing operative surfaces (135) and can be manipulated between a spread position, wherein the operative surfaces lie removed from each other, and a clamping position wherein the operative surfaces lie clampingly on each other. The applicator device (100) further comprises supply means for providing adhesive strips (60) in the spread position, and can be controlled to bring the applicator members (130) with the adhesive strips (60) into the clamping position, with interposing of the tail end (15) of the spent tube (10) and the leading end (25) of the subsequent tube (20), in order to mutually connect the ends (15, 25), and to bring the applicator members into the spread position in order to release the ends with the adhesive strips.
METHOD OF ASSEMBLING A STACK-UP WITH ADHESIVE SQUEEZE-OUT CAPTURE
A method is provided for assembling a stack-up including a first workpiece with a clearance hole and a second workpiece. The method comprises adhering an adhesive to a first face of the first workpiece so as to completely cover and close the clearance hole and securing the second workpiece to a second face of the first workpiece with an adhesive. A stack-up and the method of capturing adhesive squeeze-out during a stack-up assembly process are also disclosed.
Bonding of composite materials
A method for surface preparation of composite substrates prior to adhesive bonding. A curable surface treatment layer is applied onto a curable, resin-based composite substrate, followed by co-curing. After co-curing, the composite substrate is fully cured but the surface treatment layer remains partially cured. The surface treatment layer may be a resin film or a removal peel ply composed of resin-impregnated fabric. After surface preparation, the composite substrate is provided with a chemically-active, bondable surface that can be adhesively bonded to another composite substrate to form a covalently-bonded structure.
Method and device for joining transfer or laminating film webs
A description is given of a method for joining a first and a second film web (2, 2′) of a transfer film or laminating film, wherein the film webs (2, 2′) comprise a thermoplastic carrier film (21) and a decorative layer (23). Formed between the first and second film webs (2, 2′) is a common joining portion (3), in which the first and second film webs (2, 2′) are joined to each other by a welding process. A device for carrying out the method is also described.
METHOD FOR MAKING A GAS-TIGHT CONTAINER IN ELASTOMERIC MATERIAL
A method for making a gas-tight container (1) in elastomeric material comprises: providing two or more separate elastomeric portions (2, 3), cleaning and/or roughening the gluing surfaces (6) of the gluing edges (5), applying an adhesive (7) onto the previously cleaned, degreased and/or roughened gluing surfaces (6), assembling the portions (2, 3) to form the container (1) and inserting between the gluing surfaces (6) a raw elastomeric tape (8) not yet cured, applying a cold pressure on the overlapped gluing edges (5), heating the overlapped gluing edges (5) to thermally activate the curing of the raw tape (8), cooling the gluing areas.
FUEL TANK MADE OF POLYKETONE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Provided are a fuel tank made of polyketone and a method of manufacturing the same. The method includes injection-molding an upper cover and a lower cover using an injection-molding machine, placing the upper cover and the lower cover at a relatively high position and a relatively low position, respectively, assembling the upper cover and the lower cover with each other, and bonding contact surfaces between the upper cover and the lower cover to each other using a laser beam. Since the upper cover and the lower cover are formed at the same time and are bonded to each other immediately after being assembled by a machine, it is possible to achieve automated production, mass production and remarkable cost reduction. Further, since the fuel tank has sufficient rigidity due to the rigidity of polyketone without an additional reinforcing member, it is possible to manufacture a lightweight fuel tank.
METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING A SET OF COMPOSITE PARTS AND ASSEMBLY OBTAINED BY SUCH A METHOD
A method for assembling a box structure includes elementary parts assembled along an understructure of stiffeners and skins. The understructure and skins are made of composite material with a polymer matrix. The method includes sizing the box structure for the loads to which it is subjected and for a glued assembly. A map of the loads on the structure is obtained and a first load limit is defined depending on the probability of the structure being damaged. The understructure and the skins are assembled by gluing them. An additional layer is applied that covers the assembled elementary parts to areas of the assembled box structure where the first load limit is reached.
METHOD OF REPAIRING A PERFORATED SKIN OF A PANEL USING A DOUBLER
The present disclosure relates to a method of repairing a damaged portion of a perforated skin of a panel using a doubler made of composite material which is designed to be applied to the damaged portion of the perforated skin. The method includes at least one step in which a sealing film is applied to the damaged portion of the perforated skin in order to temporarily seal the perforations in the skin, and a step in which the doubler is produced over the previously deposited sealing film.
Method for applying reinforcing seam tape
A method for applying a thermoreactive seam tape to a seam is provided. The thermoreactive seam tape may be positioned adjacent to the seam, which may include a first fabric surface and an adjacent second fabric surface. The thermoreactive seam tape may include an interior planar surface that engages both the first fabric surface and the second fabric surface of the seam. The thermoreactive seam tape may further include an exterior surface opposite the interior surface, where the exterior surface is substantially non-planar with respect to the interior planar surface along a length of the thermoreactive seam tape. Heat and pressure may be applied to the thermoreactive seam tape, wherein the heat and the pressure facilitate adhesion of the thermoreactive seam tape to the first fabric surface and the second fabric surface of the seam.
Corner joint and method of manufacturing
Corner joints and methods of forming corner joints are described herein. The corner joints may provide the appearance of a mortise and tenon joint on both the exterior and interior surfaces of the corner joint, but include a mitered connection within the joint. Structures including at least one of the corner joints are also described.
