Cold weather vented garment
The present invention relates to breathable, vented, and insulating cold weather garments. More particularly, the present invention relates to garments with chambers to retain an insulating fill material. Perforations along the seams between the insulating chambers may achieve optimal evaporative moisture transfer from the inside (proximal to the body of a wearer) of the garment to the outside environment.
ANCHORING IN A LIGHTWEIGHT BUILDING ELEMENT
A method of anchoring a connector in a heterogeneous first object that includes a first building layer and, distally of the first building layer, an interlining layer. The method includes providing the first object and the connector, which includes thermoplastic material in a solid state; contacting the connector with the first building layer; applying a first mechanical pressing force to the connector until the first building layer is pierced by the connector and a distal portion of the connector reaches into the interlining layer; applying a second mechanical pressing force and mechanical vibration to the connector until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material is flowable and penetrates structures of the first object, and a distally facing abutment face of the head portion abuts against the metal profile in a region next to the opening; and letting the thermoplastic material resolidify to yield a positive-fit connection.
Anchoring in a lightweight building element
A method of anchoring a connector in a first object is provided, the connector having a thermoplastic material in a solid state. The method includes providing the first object and the connector, bringing the connector into contact with the first object from a distal side thereof, causing mechanical vibration energy to impinge on the first object from a proximal end face thereof, the proximal end face being opposite the distal side, while the object and the connector are pressed against each other, until a proximally facing end of connector is at least partially flowable forming a flow portion of the thermoplastic material, and causing the flow portion to flow into structures of the first object, and letting the flow portion re-solidify to cause a positive-fit connection between the first object and the connector.

Device for setting a setting element in a component
The invention relates to a device for setting a setting element having a first plastic material in a component having a second plastic material, comprising a rotational advancing unit, by means of which the setting element can be rotated about an axis of rotation and simultaneously an axial force acting in the direction of the axis of rotation can be applied to the setting element in order to drive the setting element into the component, a friction welding joint thereby being produced between the setting element and the component, a differential-distance measuring apparatus for measuring the differential distance between a surface of the component and a surface of the driven setting element, and a control unit for controlling the rotational advancing unit in dependence on the measured differential distance.
Method and apparatus for joining components with friction pins
A system, apparatus, or method for joining components is provided. The system applies force along an axis, with a friction pin, to a first substrate, such as with a joiner or joining apparatus. The system also frictionally melts a portion of the first substrate adjacent the friction pin by rotating the friction pin about the axis at a first speed within the first substrate. The system also applies force to the second substrate along the axis and frictionally melts a portion of the second substrate adjacent the friction pin by rotating the friction pin at a second speed within the second substrate. The system embeds a portion of the friction pin within the first substrate and the second substrate. In some configurations, the first speed and the second speed are substantially equivalent. In other configurations, the first speed is different from the second speed.
Fastening component and method for manufacturing a composite part with this component
An attachment component which includes a body, the body having attachment means intended for allowing the attachment component to be assembled with a part including complementary attachment means, an insertion tip arranged at one end of the body so as to allow at least one portion of the body to be inserted through a part made of composite material, an axial abutment intended for halting the insertion of the body through the part made of composite material, and a breakable portion inserted between the insertion tip and said end of the body, the breakable portion being configured to break when a predetermined force is applied to the insertion tip with a view to detaching the insertion tip from the body.
Spot-joining apparatus and methods
A spot-joining apparatus comprises a motor, a punch for driving a fastener or performing a clinching or friction stir spot welding operation, a first transmission, a second transmission and a transmission control apparatus. The first transmission is configured to transfer rotary motion of the motor to the punch when engaged. The second transmission is configured to convert rotary motion of the motor to linear motion of the punch, and thereby drive the punch towards a workpiece, when engaged. The transmission control apparatus is arranged to selectively adjust the degree of engagement of at least one of the first and second transmissions. Further apparatus for spot joining, and methods of spot-joining, are also disclosed.

Stamp-sealing unit and ultrasonic processing device comprising same
The invention relates to a stamp-sealing unit comprising a punch designed as a sonotrode (8), and a die (5), said die (5) having an opening (15) and the punch being able to be moved in and out of the opening (15) in the stamping direction. The invention also relates to an ultrasonic processing device for stamping stamped parts out of a stamping material (2) and for sealing the stamped parts to unprocessed products (21).
