TRANSPARENCY REPAIR SYSTEM
The present invention provides a composition as well as a method for repairing deep scratches, gouges, etc. and which is particularly useful for aircraft and aerospace transparency repair. The composition is a blend of a polishable two-part, solvent-free, polyurethane coating composition for repairing the transparencies and which, after application, cures to a thermoset polyurethane. An optical grid is emplaced over the area to be repaired prior to applying the blend.
SURFACE PREPARATION
A surface preparation method (200) for a composite material (104) having an original surface (110), the material (104) comprising fibres (104a) within a matrix (104b), comprises removing (204) a surface portion of the matrix (104b) by plasma ablation so as to reveal and activate (206) a new surface (120) with at least a portion of a plurality of the fibres (104a) exposed thereon, without creating a residual heat-affected zone.
INFLATABLE DEVICE REPAIR KIT
An inflatable device repair kit includes a tube repair patch, patch cement and an abrasive sanding textured surface in a single unitary package. The inflatable device repair kit may include an openable repair packet having a patch surface, a sandpaper surface and a packet interior between the patch surface and the sandpaper surface. At least one tube repair patch may be detachably adhered to the patch surface of the repair packet. An abrasive sanding texture may be provided on the sandpaper surface of the repair packet. A patch cement may be provided in the packet interior of the repair packet. The abrasive sanding texture on the repair packet may be used to smoothen an exterior surface on an inflatable device wall of an inflatable device at a break in the inflatable device wall. The repair packet may be opened and the patch cement in the packet interior applied to the tube repair patch and the tube repair patch applied to the inflatable device wall over the break to seal the break.
Fluoroelastomer erosion coating repair
Disclosed is a method of repairing a rear cone segment erosion coating including removing a portion of an existing fluoroelastomer coating from a rear cone segment to form a repair area; forming a cured replacement erosion coating corresponding to the repair area, wherein the cured replacement erosion coating has a layer of fluoroelastomer and a layer of fibrous reinforcement; preparing the repair area and the cured replacement erosion coating for adhesion; locating the prepared cured replacement erosion coating on the prepared repair area; and adhering the prepared cured replacement erosion coating to the prepared repair area. Also disclosed is a cured replacement erosion coating and a repaired inlet nose cone.
METHODS OF JOINING AND REPAIRING COMPOSITE COMPONENTS
A first thermoplastic component and a second thermoplastic component including a first joint portion and a second joint portion, respectively, are provided. A least a portion of a surface area of each of the first and second joint portions include a respective first and second mating surface. The first and second mating surfaces of the respective first and second joint portions are positioned in contact with one another. The first and second joint portions are fusion joined. Fusion joining the first and second joint portions forms a fused unitary portion of the first and second thermoplastic components.

METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING WIND TURBINE BLADES AND LEADING EDGE PROTECTION SURFACES
Methods of fabricating wind turbine blades, leading edge protection surfaces of wind turbine blades and wind turbine protection shields using coreactive additive manufacturing. The blades, surfaces (605), and protection shields can include a single layer or multiple layers of a cured composition applied using coreactive manufacturing such as three-dimensional printing. Methods of repairing leading edge (601) surfaces of wind turbine blades include applying one or more layers of a coreactive composition onto the damaged leading edge surfaces using coreactive additive manufacturing or applying a leading edge protection shield onto a damaged leading edge (601) of a wind turbine blade.
Method Of Repairing Paint Film And Articles Comprising Repaired Paint Film
In order to repair any damage to an originally applied paint film, a method of the invention facilitates repair of the paint film by removing essentially only that portion of the paint film that is damaged. After removal of the damaged portion of the paint film, a series of abrading, application, and polishing steps results in a repaired portion of the paint film.
