20180290362 · 2018-10-11 ·

In an injection molding system a cooling manifold system includes a first manifold disposed adjacent to a second manifold. Supply valves are arranged to selectively pass a coolant from the first manifold respectively to each of a plurality of mold cooling circuits and a plurality of return valves are arranged to selectively pass the coolant from the plurality of mold cooling circuits to the second manifold when one or more of a plurality of return valves is in an open position. Valve pairs associated with a common mold cooling circuit are mechanically linked so that operation of a supply valve and return valve can be concurrently performed from one side of the manifold system without interference from a plurality of hoses attached to the supply and return valves.

METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INJECTION MOULDING MACHINE

In a method for operating an injection moulding machine in the absence of a backflow barrier, plastic melt is injected by a plasticising device into a cavity in a screw antechamber of a plasticising screw adapted to rotate about a longitudinal axis and to move translationally by a drive unit during an injection phase and a holding- pressure phase. A rotational drive of the drive unit is controlled such that a speed of the plasticising screw causes overlay of a backflow of the plastic melt from the screw antechamber back into screw threads of the plasticising screw by an opposing delivery flow as a result of a rotation of the plasticising screw due to a translational injection movement of the plasticising screw. A differential flow is established from the backflow and the opposing delivery flow and influenced at least during the injection phase by influencing the speed of the plasticising screw.

A method of performing an injection cycle having a duration comprising: beginning the injection cycle with the valve pins associated with two or more nozzles in a gate closed position, selecting a first one of the two or more nozzles and controllably driving its associated valve pin from the gate closed position to a selected first axial upstream position, upon downstream flow of the injection fluid through a cavity the preselected distance, controllably driving the valve pin associated with the other of the two or more nozzles to a selected second axial position upstream, holding or controllably driving the valve pin associated with the first one of the two or more nozzles in or to one or more reduced flow axial upstream positions that are partially closed.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MOLDED PRODUCT
20180117815 · 2018-05-03 ·

A method for continuously manufacturing molded products by repeating a plurality of molding cycles includes, in each molding cycle, filling a resin composition into a mold, pressing the resin composition in the mold, cooling the resin composition in the mold using cooling water, and releasing the resin composition from an interior of the mold to obtain a molded product. An A-th molding cycle of the plurality of molding cycles can be a delay cycle delayed from a B-th molding cycle. When the A-th cycle is the delay cycle, the flow rate of the cooling water flowing in the mold at the cooling step is decreased in the A-th cycle as compared with the B-th cycle.

Resin transfer molding process

A method of making a rub strip includes resin transfer molding an arcuate composite structure. The resin transfer molding step includes inserting a honeycomb core into a mold cavity having an arcuate base so that the honeycomb core assumes an arcuate shape. The resin transfer molding step further includes directing liquid resin into the mold cavity to form the composite structure comprising the liquid resin and the honeycomb core, and curing the liquid resin for a sufficient period of time. The resin transfer molding step further includes removing the composite structure from the mold. The method further includes repeating the resin transfer molding step until a sufficient number of arcuate composite structures are produced. External sensor kit for injection molding apparatus and methods of use

Embodiments within the scope of the present disclosure are directed to external sensor kits that may be included in new injection molds or retrofitted into existing injection molds in order to approximate conditions within a mold, such as pressure or the location of a melt flow front. Such kits are designed to amplify meaningful measurements obtained by the external sensor kit so that noise measurements do not prevent the approximation of conditions within a mold. In some embodiments within the scope of the present disclosure, an external sensor kit includes a strain gauge sensor, a coupon, a support bracket, and a hammer. The strain gauge sensor is placed on a surface of the coupon and measures the strain in the coupon.
