Systems and methods for filling and flushing animal footbaths
11259499 · 2022-03-01 · ·

The present invention provides improved systems and methods for flushing out animal footbaths at remote locations which do not have a reliable or high pressure water supply. Embodiments of the flushing systems of the present invention preferably include at least one fluid pressurizing pump and one or more large fluid storage tanks which receive water from a source and place it under pressure for use in the system. Embodiments of the flushing systems of the present invention are capable of automatically: taking in water from a low pressure water source; pumping the water into one or more storage tanks to place it under pressure; preventing backflow of the pressurized water; storing the pressurized water until one or more footbaths requires flushing; performing a flushing operation by opening a master valve or a series of valves in parallel; controlling whether the pressurized water remains untreated by flowing through a flush tube or becomes treated with one or more cleaning or disinfecting compounds by flowing through a mixing pipe in communication with one or more chemical tanks, the pressurized water flowing into and flushing out the one or more fouled footbaths; filling the footbaths with fresh disinfecting solution; refilling and re-pressurizing the one or more storage tanks for the next flushing operation; and blowing out any remaining moisture from the system of pipes to reduce bacterial growth and prevent pipe-bursting in freezing weather.

Pet grooming glove providing fluid supply
09807977 · 2017-11-07 ·

The present invention is a distinctive pet grooming glove which provides a fluid supply to allow users to wash and/or groom pets using a single gloved hand while a stream of fluid (such as water) flows from the glove. The Pet Grooming Glove includes an attachment port for attaching a source of primary fluid (such as water) as well as apertures in the glove which allow the primary fluid to flow from the primary supply source port to the palm of the glove. Additionally the Pet Grooming Glove includes an attachment port for attaching a source of secondary fluid (such as shampoo) as well as apertures in the glove which allow the secondary fluid to flow from the secondary fluid supply port to the palm of the glove.

Pesticidal control device with high load of active ingredient

The present invention relates to a pesticidal control device that includes at least one pesticidal active ingredient, cellulose fibers, and a polymer or polymer matrix. The combination of the cellulose fibers with the polymer allows for a higher loading of liquid pesticidal active ingredients within the pesticidal control device, maintains the active ingredient within the control device during transportation, storage and handling, and provides higher efficacy or control of pests during treatment. The pesticidal control device may be an ear tag, collar, or bee strip.

Automatically detachable collar pendant system

The automatically detachable collar pendant system is structured so that when the system receives a signal, one end of the collar is released from the rest of the collar body, thereby unfastening the collar and allowing the collar to fall off of a target animal. The “signal” may comprise a magnetic or induction heat signal. In the preferred embodiment, the signal is received (and the collar is unfastened) when the target animal feeds at a specially-equipped bait station.

SUBSTANCE DELIVERY DEVICE

A drug delivery pump includes a dosing chamber (16) for delivering a substance (18) therefrom, pushing apparatus, and a thermal energy source (14) arranged to cause a sufficient change in temperature in a portion of the pushing apparatus so that the pushing apparatus imparts a pushing force against the substance to cause the substance to be delivered from the dosing chamber. A controller (90) controls delivery of the substance from the dosing chamber. A thermal insulator (24) thermally insulates the substance in the dosing chamber from the thermal energy source.

Head-only and/or whole body inhalation exposure chamber

A system for conducting inhalation studies includes an inhalation exposure chamber and an aerosol delivery line connected to the inhalation exposure chamber. The aerosol delivery line is configured to produce a bi-directional and symmetrical presentation of aerosol to the inhalation exposure chamber. A laminar flow element is configured to create an ante-chamber where complete and turbulent mixing of the aerosol occurs. A radial exhaust and the laminar flow element enable laminar flow of the aerosol through the inhalation exposure chamber.

TAG BASED ADMINISTRATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL AGENTS TO LIVESTOCK
20220047367 · 2022-02-17 ·

Autonomously administering a pharmaceutical agent to an animal. A tag assembly is affixed to an animal. The tag assembly may be an ear tag, although other configurations can be used. The tag assembly has a reservoir that houses a pharmaceutical agent. An actuator and an application mechanism are provided. A control signal is generated responsive to an input, which may be from a sensor associated with the tag assembly or may be from an external circuit located apart from the tag assembly. Receipt of the control signal causes the actuator to apply a force to the reservoir, which in turn induces a flow of the pharmaceutical agent, via the application mechanism, to a body of the animal. The pharmaceutical agent may be topically or intravenously applied. The pharmaceutical may be an insecticide or some other agent. Multiple reservoirs can be provided to dispense the same or different pharmaceutical agents.

PET NAIL CLIPPER

A pet nail clipper is provided. The pet nail clipper includes an upper arm and a lower arm. The upper arm includes a handle portion and a cutting portion having a blade. The lower arm also includes a handle portion and a cutting portion having a blade. A pivot bolt pivotally connects the upper arm and the lower arm together in between the handle portions and the cutting portions. A spring is attached to the upper arm and the lower arm. The spring biases the handle portions away from one another and biases the cutting portions away from one another. A deburring plate and a styptic receptacle are secured to the handle portions of the arms.

System and method of attaching cups to a dairy animal

A robotic attacher retrieves a preparation cup from an equipment area located behind a dairy livestock and attaches and detaches the preparation cup to the teats of the dairy livestock in sequence. The sequence comprises attaching and detaching the preparation cup to the left front teat, the right front teat, the right rear teat, and the left rear teat.

Device for securely exposing an animal's ear canals
09737051 · 2017-08-22 ·

A device is provided to aid prevention and treatment of ear infections in animals. In an embodiment, the device comprises a first strip and second strip of material such as elastomeric fabric. Each strip defines first and second holes corresponding to an animal's ears. Each ear may be received by one of the holes defined by the first strip. Then, the ears may be folded over the first strip to expose the animal's outer ear canal. Finally, the second strip may be placed over the folded ears and secured to the first strip to maintain the ears between the first and second strips. Thus, in practice, the device fixedly exposes the outer ear canals to air flow to prevent the growth of bacteria and yeast and further aids cleaning and medicinal applications.
