Disclosed is joining device for joining a trailing end of a first strip to a leading end of a second strip to form a tire component. The joining device includes a support member with a support surface and a retaining member with a retaining surface for retaining the second strip. The joining device is arranged for positioning the leading end of the second strip in a joining orientation in which said leading end is closer to the support plane than the rest. The joining device also includes a control unit for controlling a relative movement between the support member and the retaining member with a first component in a placement direction to place the leading end of the second strip and a second component in a joining direction to bring the leading end of the second strip into contact with the trailing end of the first strip.

A bleeder cord affixing device is made up of an affixing roller extending in a width direction of the treatment member and adapted to be pressed into the treatment member being moved, thereby to be rotated; and a roller moving mechanism that moves the affixing roller to and away from the treatment member. The roller moving mechanism operates to move the affixing roller to a pressed position urged to the treatment member, with a result that the affixing roller is caused to be rotated due to the movement of the treatment member at the pressed position and attaches the rubber member to the treatment member under the pressing force, and then presses the bleeder cords onto the treatment member to continuously affix the bleeder cords onto the surface of the treatment member.

JOINING APPARATUS AND JOINING METHOD FOR A CORD PLY FOR A TIRE
Cord ply joiner for a tire includes a first pressurizer having first pressing member and first pressure receiving member in upper and lower sides, and a second pressurizer having second pressing member and second pressure receiving member in the upper and lower sides. A first code ply positioning mechanism positions a first code ply by bringing a tail end of the first code ply into contact with a side surface of the second pressure receiving member, a first code ply fixing mechanism lowers the cord end pressing member so the first cord ply is fixed, and a second code ply positioning mechanism positions the tip of the second code ply by bringing the tip into contact with a side surface of the cord end pressing member. The first pressurizer and the second pressurizer are brought close to each other, whereby a shearing force is applied to an overlapped portion.

The invention relates to a belt forming system comprises an upstream conveyor (33), a downstream conveyor (32) located downstream of the upstream conveyor, and a belt assembly system in communication with the upstream conveyor and the downstream conveyor. The belt assembly system comprises an arm (52), an actuator for moving the arm (54), and a holding component (53) coupled to the arm and adapted to move a strip section from the upstream conveyor to a desired position on the downstream conveyor such that the strip section is oriented at a predetermined angle on the downstream conveyor. In one embodiment, the belt forming system comprises a belt cutter (42). The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing at least a portion of a tire belt.
