FORMING OF VACUUM BAG PACKAGING
A system for forming a vacuum bag packaging material into a desired shape includes subjecting the exterior of the packaging material to a vacuum to expand the packaging material. The expanded packaging material is then pressed into or against a forming device. Expanding the packaging material renders a filler material inside a sealed packaging membrane free flowing, such that the packaging material can assume the shape of the forming device during the pressing operation. When the vacuum is removed, the membrane recompresses upon the filler material and renders it non-free flowing such that the formed packaging material maintains the formed shape during ordinary handling.
SUSTAINABLE AIR CUSHION OR MAILER
A fluid-fillable air cushion or mailer comprising a first layer comprising a repulpable material, a laminate comprising at least two water-soluble material layers, the laminate adjacently affixed to the first layer; and an air fillable portion integral with the laminate, and method of making same are disclosed.
Forming of vacuum bag packaging
A system and method for forming a vacuum bag packaging material into a desired shape includes subjecting the exterior of the packaging material to a vacuum to expand the packaging material. METHOD AND PACKAGING MACHINE FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSTABLE POD FOR BREWING PRODUCTS AND COMPOSTABLE POD FOR BREWING PRODUCTS
A method for manufacturing a compostable pod for brewing products envisages preparing a first and a second sheet made of biodegradable material with gas barrier properties, shaping the first and the second sheet so as to make at least a first and a second concave portion, filling the first concave portion with a predetermined quantity of brewing product and joining the first concave portion to the second concave portion so that the respective concavities are opposite one another and define a casing for the brewing product. The shaping steps of the first and the second sheet envisage moistening at least a first portion of the first sheet and a second portion of said second sheet, configuring the first and the second portion so as to make the first and the second concave portion and drying the first and the second concave portion.
MIXING MACHINE FOR PRODUCING FOAM WITHIN A BAG
A machine produces foam-in-bag from foam precursors mixed within the bag. The machine comprises a base and a shell. The base and shell are moveable relative each other between a base/shell disengaged position and a base/shell engaged position. In the base/shell engaged position, the base and shell divide the bag so that a mixing chamber is isolated from the remainder portion of the bag. First and second nozzles inject foam precursors into the mixing chamber. A mixer engages the mixing chamber to provide mixing energy to facilitate the foam reaction.
EQUIPMENT FOR INSERTION OF OBJECTS INTO SMOKING ARTICLES
A method for manufacturing cigarette filter rods comprises providing a continuous supply of filter material in a direction of travel; forming the filter material into a continuous rod; and rotating a wheel in a vertical plane, in operable communication with the filter material such that a portion of the wheel contacts the filter material at a predetermined location, and such that general direction of travel of the rotating wheel and the filter material, when in contact, are in generally the same direction. The method also comprises providing a lower hopper in operable communication with the rotatable wheel; providing an upper hopper in operable communication with the lower hopper; and wrapping an overwrap material around the filter material. The method further comprises controlling speed of rotation of the wheel relative to feedback from an inspection system; and subdividing the continuous rod at pre-determined intervals.
SHREDDED RECYCLED CARDBOARD FILLED PACKAGING CUSHION AND METHOD OF MAKING PACKAGING CUSHION USING RECYCLED CARDBOARD MATERIAL
A packaging cushion includes a pouch that defines a hollow interior space. The pouch is made of a paper material. A fill material is contained within the hollow interior space of the pouch. The fill material consists of loose, used packaging material.

Equipment for insertion of objects into smoking articles
An apparatus for providing rods for use in the manufacture of cigarette filter elements, each rod having individual objects placed at predetermined spaced intervals along the length thereof, comprises means for providing a continuous supply of rod filter material, a first hopper means for providing a reservoir for objects, and a second hopper means for providing a plurality of individual objects. The second hopper means is positioned to receive objects from the first hopper means. The apparatus also comprises a reciprocating screen means between the first hopper means and the second hopper means, means for positioning individual objects from the second hopper to within the supply of filter material at pre-determined spaced intervals, means for forming the filter material into a continuous rod having individual objects positioned at pre-determined spaced intervals within that rod, and means for subdividing the continuous rod at pre-determined intervals.
Flexible packaging materials and methods of making and using same
Packaging materials are disclosed, along with packages formed therefrom and methods for forming the packages.
