Method for manufacturing paper printable with inkjet for use as a decor paper
A paper for inkjet printing may have one side that is provided with an inkjet receiver coating. The inkjet receiver coating may comprise at least pigment and binder. A portion of free or unbound pigment may be less than 10 weight percent of the total amount of pigment in the inkjet receiver coating and/or the inkjet receiver coating may have a surface that is substantially free of pigment.
Fabric print medium
A fabric print medium containing a fabric base substrate with a first and a second side; a polymeric barrier layer that is extruded, or a polymeric barrier layer with adhesion property that is laminated, on at least one side of the fabric base substrate; a primary coating composition that includes a polymeric binder and filler particles applied over a polymeric barrier layer; and an image-receiving coating composition that includes, at least, a first crosslinked polymeric network and a second crosslinked polymeric network, that is applied over the primary coating composition. Also disclosed are the method for making such fabric print medium and the method for producing printed images using said material.
Appliqué to provide a design on a fabric
An appliqué of the invention comprises a disposable carrier film onto which a release layer and PU inks are printed using layering techniques. The ink layers can be multicoloured and each colour is applied sequentially using a conventional screen-printing method. A back-up, a lacquer layer, and an adhesive layer are printed in sequence over the ink layers. The ink includes reflective particles providing the optical effect of a 3-dimensional appliqué. The artwork is created by overlapping design layers to controlled specification sequences. The ink, because of the additives, creates a desired colour tone, and this may be enhanced by layering of the ink in an overlapping region. Thus, there are three main regions, namely a central region with reflective ink, a “shoulder” region with overlapping matt and reflective inks and an outer region with only matt ink.
Recording medium
According to an example, a recording medium may include a substrate; a first coating including an inorganic pigment, a first binder, and a fixative agent; and a second coating including inorganic nanoparticles and a second binder; in which the inorganic pigment may be a plate-shaped pigment.
PRINTABLE MEDIA
The present disclosure is drawn to printable media. A printable medium includes a substrate having a first side and a second side. An ink-receiving layer is positioned on the first side of the substrate. The ink-receiving layer includes a colloidal sol. An ink-penetrable layer is positioned on the ink-receiving layer. The ink-penetrable layer includes a binder and polymer particles having a glass transition temperature from 80° C. to 150° C. A repositionable adhesive layer is positioned on the second side of the substrate. A release liner is removably positioned on the repositionable adhesive layer. A friction control layer is positioned on the release liner, where the friction control layer includes a slip aid.
RECORDING MEDIA
The present disclosure is drawn to coated print media, methods of making coated print media, and methods of printing. In one example, a coated print medium can include a substrate, a base coating layer on the substrate, and a top coating layer on the base coating layer. The base coating layer can include an inorganic pigment, a binder, and a fixing agent. The top coating layer can include polyvinyl alcohol and polymer nanobeads having a gloss transition temperature from 70° C. to 350° C. The polyvinyl alcohol and polymer nanobeads can be included at from 50 wt % to 100 wt % by dry weight of the top coating layer.
PRINTING PAPER
A printing paper having a base layer, an intermediate layer, and a surface layer, the intermediate layer being arranged adjacent to the base layer and on the base layer, and the surface layer being arranged adjacent to the intermediate layer and on the intermediate layer, the base layer, the intermediate layer, and the surface layer each being a thermoplastic resin film having pores, an average pore size of the surface layer being from 0.2 to 5 μm, an average pore size of the intermediate layer being from 5 to 70 μm and being greater than the average pore size of the surface layer, and an average pore size of the base layer being from 70 to 200 μm and being greater than the average pore size of the intermediate layer.
IMAGING MEDIA
The present disclosure is drawn to imaging media. In one example, an imaging medium includes a substrate, a color layer on the substrate, and an opaque porous concealing layer over the color layer. The color layer includes a pattern of color regions, wherein individual color regions include multiple adjacently-applied colors. The opaque porous concealing layer has a coat weight from 2 gsm to 10 gsm. The opaque porous concealing layer includes transparent inorganic particles having a refractive index from 1.3 to 3, and void spaces between the transparent inorganic particles are occupied by air.
INK-RECEIVING LAYER COMPOSITION HAVING EXCELLENT PRINTING CHARACTERISTICS FOR DECORATIVE MEMBER, DECORATIVE MEMBER, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING DECORATIVE MEMBER
The present invention relates to: an ink-receiving layer composition for a decorative member, the composition comprising an acrylic emulsion, a metal salt, and organic particles or inorganic particles; a decorative member comprising a base layer, a printing layer formed on the base layer, and an ink-receiving layer disposed between the base layer and the printing layer and formed of a composition comprising an acrylic emulsion, a metal salt, and inorganic particles; and a method for manufacturing a decorative member, the method comprising a step for preparing a base layer in a flat state, a step for coating a composition comprising an acrylic emulsion, a metal salt, and organic particles or inorganic particles on the base layer, a step for drying or UV curing the coated composition to form an ink-receiving layer, and a step for forming a printing layer on the ink-receiving layer.
Digital embossing
A method of forming a digital embossing on a surface by bonding hard press particles to a carrier. A liquid binder pattern is applied on the carrier by a digital drop application head. Hard press particles are applied on the carrier and the binder pattern such that some hard press particles are bonded to the carrier by the liquid pattern and non-bonded press particles are removed. The carrier with the bonded hard press particles is pressed to the surface and an embossing is formed when the carrier with the hard press particles is removed.
