The polymer may be a polyurethane dispersion. The multivalent salt may be calcium chloride, and the water may be present in an amount greater than about 40 wt %. The inkjet receptive composition may have a viscosity in the range of about 3 and about 500 cP.
COATED PAPER FOR INDUSTRIAL INKJET PRINTING PRESSES AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
The present invention is to provide a coated paper for industrial inkjet printing presses comprising: a base paper, and a coating layer containing at least one selected from the group consisting of a cationic resin and a water-soluble polyvalent cationic salt, and a pigment containing kaolin, on the base paper; wherein the content of the kaolin is 30 parts by mass to 80 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the pigment in the coating layer, an arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) stipulated in JIS B 0601:2001 (ISO 4287:1997) of a coated paper surface on the side where the coating layer is located is 4.5 μm to 7.5 μm, the coated paper surface on the side where the coating layer is located has 1 to 350 protruding parts per 1.0 square centimeter, and the protruding part is a protruding part having the maximum width of 10 μm to 100 μm measured using a photographed image of the coated paper surface taken by magnifying 50 times using an electron microscope.
According to the present invention, coated paper for industrial inkjet printing presses that achieves excellent uniformity in color densities and ink absorbability, that has capability of suppressing strike-through of inks, and that achieves excellent paper feeding characteristics can be provided.
SURFACE MODIFICATION OF SILICA IN AN AQUEOUS ENVIRONMENT COMPRISING ALUMINUM CHLORIDE HYDRATE
The present invention is drawn to a method of treating silica in an aqueous environment. The method can comprise steps of dispersing silica particulates in an aqueous environment to form an aqueous dispersion; reversing the net charge of a surface of the silica particulates from negative to positive using a surface activating agent, thereby forming surface-activated silica particulates dispersed in the water; and contacting the surface-activated silica particulates with organosilane reagents to form reagent-modified and surface-activated silica particulates.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING REPRODUCTION OF PAINTING
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a reproduction of a painting, which can use different types of paintings as original paintings and reproduce the matiere of the original painting and which also improves the light stability of ink. According to the present invention, there is provided a method for manufacturing a reproduction of a painting, comprising: forming an irregularity-reproducing layer, which has irregularities reflecting the irregularities of the painting being an original painting, on a base sheet by use of a slurried mixture containing an organic binder, calcium hydroxide having a volume-based median diameter (d50), as measured by laser diffraction scattering, of 10 μm or less, and a water-insoluble inorganic powder having a volume-based median diameter (d50), as measured by laser diffraction scattering, of 5.0 μm or less; and printing the painting on the irregularity-reproducing layer by inkjet printing.
