Recording medium and process for producing same
A recording medium having a base and an ink receiving layer containing an inorganic particle and at least one compound selected from a compound represented by the following formula (I) and a compound represented by the following formula (II): ##STR00001##
Low basis weight inkjet printable substrates with lower showthrough and improved waterfastness and print density
An article in the form of a printable substrate having a showthrough value of about 0.14 or less, and an opacity value of at least about 88% which includes a paper substrate with a first and second surfaces formed of paper fibers having a basis weight of from about 12 to about 32 lbs/1300 ft.sup.2, and a substrate filler in an amount in the range of from 0 to about 30% by weight of the paper substrate; and a surface size layer on at least one of the first and second surfaces, the surface size layer having about 50 lbs or less per ton of the paper substrate of a starch surface sizing agent and a multivalent metal salt drying agent in an amount sufficient to impart to the at least one of the first and second surfaces a black print density value of at least about 0.8 when inkjet printed with pigmented inks and a waterfastness value of at least about 85% when inkjet printed with dye-based inks, the printable substrate having a MD tensile strength of at least about 12 lbs/in. and a CD tensile strength of at least about 6 lbs/in. Also, a method for preparing such a printable substrate.
RECORDING MEDIUM AND SILANE COUPLING AGENT
To provide a recording medium in which the ink absorbability and the color development properties of an image to be obtained are high and in which cracking in an ink receiving layer is sufficiently suppressed.
A recording medium contains a base material and an ink receiving layer containing inorganic particles and a binder, in which the inorganic particles have an organosilicon structure having a quaternary ammonium group, an imino group or a substituted imino group, and a hydroxyl group.
PRE-TREATMENT COMPOSITION
Disclosed herein is a pre-treatment composition that includes aggregated nano-sized inorganic pigment particles, polymeric organic particles having a particle size in a ratio of 100:1 to 1000:1 by comparison with the size of aggregated nano-sized inorganic pigment particles, an ink absorber and a polymeric binder. Also disclosed herein is a printable media that includes a media substrate and the pre-treatment composition which is applied to, at least, one side of the substrate; and the method for obtaining it.
FABRIC PRINT MEDIUM
A fabric print medium includes a fabric base substrate and two treatment compositions that are applied thereon. The first treatment composition includes, at least, film-forming polymeric compounds, and a water-soluble high-valence metal complex. The second treatment composition includes, at least, a polymeric network, poly-alkene polymeric compounds, a water-soluble high-valence metal complex and a flame retardant agent. Also disclosed herein is a method for obtaining the fabric print medium.
Print medium including treatment layer
Embodiments provide treated print media, treatment compositions, and methods for forming treated print media. In some embodiments, a treated print medium may include a substrate and a treatment layer on the substrate, the treatment layer including microfibrils and an ink-fixing agent. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Print media for inkjet printing
A print medium having a base substrate including a blend of cellulosic fibers, a sizing material present in an effective amount from about 0 Kg/Ton of the print medium to about 1 Kg/Ton of the print medium, and a multivalent cation salt present in a synergistic amount from about 4 Kg/Ton of the print medium to about 25 Kg/Ton of the print medium.
Solvent resistant printable substrates and their methods of manufacture and use
A printable substrate, along with methods of its formation, is generally provided. The printable coating can include a base sheet defining a first surface and a second surface and a printable coating on the first surface of the base sheet. The base sheet can be constructed from a cellulosic nonwoven web and a saturant. The printable coating can include a plurality of inorganic microparticles and a crosslinked material, where the crosslinked material is formed from a crosslinkable polymeric binder and a crosslinking agent. An image can be formed on the printable substrate, such as by printing an ink composition onto the printable substrate (e.g., onto the printable coating).
Coating liquid and recording medium
A coating liquid includes a polymer particle, an aggregating agent for a coloring material, a nonionic surfactant having an HLB value within the range of 15.5 to 20, and water.
Films for Printing
Printing layers and films for printing are disclosed. Methods for preparing such films also are disclosed.
