Liquid ink-receiving layers or films for direct ink jet printing or ink printing
11338603 · 2022-05-24 · ·

Liquid ink-receiving layers or films (receiving layers) for direct ink jet printing or ink printing, into which low-viscous liquid (highly fluid) printing media (printing inks) can be introduced according to said printing methods, and which solidify or are able to be solidified at a time subsequent to the ink insertion (retarded). The invention eliminates limitations on the usability of raw materials for ink jet printing or ink printing, especially of film-forming agents but also of pigments and other ingredients. Moreover, corresponding compositions and methods for ink jet printing or ink printing are proposed.

FABRIC COATING COMPOSITIONS

A fabric coating composition can include water, from 3 wt % to 95 wt % oxazoline reactive compound by dry weight including an oxazoline group, and from 3 wt % to 70 wt % cationic charging agent by dry weight. The fabric coating composition can have a pH from pH 2 to pH 6.

AQUEOUS COMPOSITIONS AND INKJET RECEIVING MEDIA

An aqueous composition can be used for pre-treating a substrate prior to inkjet printing to provide a white opaque background for inkjet-printed images. This aqueous composition includes: (a) one or more water-soluble salts of a multivalent metal cation at 5-30 weight %; (b) a nonionic or cationic water-soluble or water-dispersible polymeric binder material at 5-30 weight %; and (c) surface-treated visible light-scattering particles having a D.sub.50 (median) particle size of at least 0.04 μm and up to and including 2 μm in an amount of 5-60 weight % based on the total aqueous composition weight. The pre-treated substrate is useful as an inkjet receiving medium that can be readily inkjet-printed particularly with anionically-stabilized aqueous pigment-based inks.

SURFACE TREATMENT COMPOSITION
