A lateral groove provided in a tread portion has: an opening formed in a tread surface; a minimum portion having the smallest groove width, positioned radially inside the opening; and a maximum portion having the largest groove width, positioned radially inside the minimum portion. The width of the opening increases toward the outside in the tire axial direction.

Tread for a pneumatic tire

A tread for a tire includes: a first tread zone extending circumferentially, continuously, and entirely around the tire, the first tread zone being formed of a first compound; a second tread zone extending circumferentially, continuously, and entirely around the tire, the second tread zone being formed of a second compound different from the first compound; and a boundary groove axially separating the first tread zone from the second tread zone, the first tread zone, the second tread zone, and the boundary groove entirely forming the tread, the boundary groove having an axial centerline disposed an axial distance from an equatorial plane of the tire. The first tread zone has a first circumferential groove and a sidewall portion defining an intermediate circumferential rib of the first tread zone and a shoulder circumferential rib of the first tread zone.

A pneumatic tire includes at least four circumferential main grooves that extend in a tire circumferential direction; and at least five land portions defined by the circumferential main grooves. The center land portion and the left and right second land portions each include through lug grooves that are inclined at a predetermined inclination angle with respect to the tire lateral direction and extend through the land portion in the tire lateral direction. The through lug grooves located in the center land portion and the through lug grooves located in the left and right second land portions extend in the tire lateral direction inclined in opposite directions to each other. At least one groove wall of each of the through lug grooves located in the left and right second land portions include a step-shaped bent portion that bends in the tire circumferential direction in a plan view of a tread.

Heavy-duty vehicle tire

Tread (2) of a radial tire for a heavy vehicle. The tire alternatingly rolls in laden and unladen states on ascent and descent, respectively. Tread (2) has total width W.sub.T and comprises first median portion (21) having median width W.sub.c, where 0.2W.sub.T≤W.sub.c≤0.5W.sub.T. Tread (2) axially delimited by second and third lateral portions (22, 23) that have respective lateral widths (W.sub.S2, W.sub.S3) at least equal to 25% and at most equal to 40% of total width W.sub.T. Angle A.sub.51 of leading face (51) of every element in relief (31) of first median portion (21) is strictly less than angle A.sub.61 of trailing face (61) of said element in relief (31). Angle (A.sub.52, A.sub.53) of leading face (52, 53) of every element in relief (32, 33) of each of second and third lateral portions (22, 23) is strictly greater than angle (A.sub.62, A.sub.63) of trailing face (62, 63) of said element in relief (32, 33).

A tire includes a plurality of main lug grooves and a plurality of sub lug grooves that extend in a tire width direction and penetrate a tread surface, and that are arranged at predetermined intervals in a tire circumferential direction. Additionally, the main lug grooves have a maximum groove width Wg1 of 15.0 mm or more and a maximum groove depth of 23.5 mm or more. In addition, the sub lug grooves have a maximum groove width Wg2 that satisfies 0.10≤Wg2/Wg1≤0.35 with respect to the maximum groove width Wg1 of the main lug grooves. Additionally, at least one of the sub lug grooves is disposed between adjacent ones of the main lug grooves.
