An air-conditioning register includes a rotation direction changing mechanism, which changes the rotation direction of an operation knob and transmits the rotation to a shut-off damper to tilt the shut-off damper about damper pivots. The rotation direction changing mechanism includes arm portions and a cam member. Each arm portion includes a sliding end portion at the distal end, which moves along an arcuate passage having a center that coincides with the damper pivots in accordance with the tilting motion. A cam groove of the cam member includes sliding regions, along which the sliding end portions slide when the shut-off damper is tilted. Each sliding region includes free running regions on its opposite ends. The moving amount of the sliding end portions along the arcuate passage in the free running regions is less than that in an intermediate region when the cam member is rotated by a certain angle.

Air vent for a vehicle HVAC system

An air vent for a vehicle HVAC system includes a duct, a forward fin connected to an air outlet at a first end portion of the duct, and plurality of rear fins connected to an air inlet at a second end portion of the duct. The forward fin rotatable about a transverse direction of the duct is configured to adjust the direction of airflow in a vertical direction of the duct. The plurality of rear fins rotatable about the vertical direction is configured to adjust the direction of airflow in a longitudinal direction of the duct. A shut-off valve is rotatably connected to a central portion of the duct and positioned between the forward fin and the plurality of rear fins. The shut-off valve is directly connected to the forward fin and configured to rotate about the transverse direction via movement of the forward fin in the longitudinal direction.

Air vent

An air vent is described, having a housing with an air inlet section, a main air channel, and an air outlet section, the main air channel having at least two opposing sections, which reduce the size of the main air channel starting from the air inlet section and starting from the air outlet section. At least two air channels, which lead into the main air channel via outlet openings, are arranged behind the sections. A pivotably mounted flap, which closes the air channel when in a non-actuated position, is located in the region of inlet openings in each of the air channels. In addition, at least one control element on a control member and a drive unit are provided, wherein the flaps can be pivoted via the at least one control element by means of pivot levers. The Coanda effect is used to deflect the air.

A dual damper device or damper assembly of a vehicle air vent includes a dial support; a dial knob coupled with the dial support so as to rotate in one direction or another direction; a gear bush having an upper end portion coupled to a bottom of the dial knob, and a pinion gear formed at a lower portion; a guide gear having a rack gear part at one side thereof and engaging the pinion gear so as to move forward or backward; and a damper provided to an air channel of a duct housing so as to rotate in one side direction or another side direction. The damper is coupled to the guide gear so that the damper moves according to an amount of a forward or backward movement of the guide gear.

Low-friction ride plate for operating an airflow damper of a vehicle HVAC register and method of formation thereof

A vehicle air register includes an airflow damper disposed within a register housing. A rotationally-operable control is coupled to the airflow damper and the register housing. A ride plate is disposed within the register housing and that slidably receives the control to define open and closed positions of the airflow damper. The control includes a biased pin that engages the ride plate. The ride plate is made of a different material than the housing. A method for forming a vehicle register includes forming a ride plate that is made of a first material, forming a register housing made of a second material, and having a plate receptacle defined therein, disposing the ride plate within the plate receptacle, and disposing a damper and damper control within the housing.
